| Cute Is What We Aim For – Hipbones and Microphones Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Regardless of whether or not this is a joke song, I think "give them hell with that HTML" is pretty darn funny ;) Reminds me a little of White and Nerdy. "Make them lust/with that C++" "Do it all night long/with that Python" "Make 'em trip/with that JavaScript" |

| What on earth is a "writing crop"? | |
| The Juliana Theory – We Make The Road By Walking Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The title is from a Spanish poem by Antonio Machado. In it, he writes, "Caminante, no hay camino/Se hace camino al andar", or "Walker, there is no road/we make the road by walking". | |
| The Receiving End Of Sirens – Then I Defy You, Stars Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| We seem to have established this already, but the title, "...Then I Defy You, Stars", is a reference to Romeo and Juliet as well - it's what Romeo says when he finds out Juliet is "dead" and decides to kill himself. | |
| JamisonParker – Paper, Rock, Scissors Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Paper...before a relationship, someone who is depressed or emo and is sad all the time..."paper-thin"... Rock...during the relationship, they feel so strong like they can withstand everything... Scissors...the end of the relationship...cut apart. The first verse is before the relationship, while they're just meeting. The second verse is during the relationship. The third verse is after the relationship...a bitter breakup. This band is one of the most emo bands I've ever heard...they certainly put lots of emotion into their songs, and their melodies are really cool, but their lyrics are so DEPRESSING. |

| JamisonParker – Dusk, the Day After Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| My best guess is that this is about the end of a relationship. The guy is wishing he could make a night last forever and whining about the "dreams we left behind". | |
| Brazilian Girls – Me Gustas Cuando Callas Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I read this last year in Spanish 4 AP...it was originally a poem by Pablo Neruda by the same title. It's about how when he's with this girl silence between them is so comfortable because they're comfortable with each other. Anyway, I thought it was really cool that Brazilian Girls did a song with the same words. | |
| Senses Fail – Institutionalized (Suicidal Tendencies cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Bad Religion – Spirit Shine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
To me this song means something about how going through tough times or suffering great trials in life, in the end, makes you a better person. In a certain sense this song suggests that the ONLY way to have your "spirit shine" is to suffer first. However, I'm pretty sure the way BR meant it is as an attack on religion. I'm not sure where I stand on God, but I don't want ALL of their songs to be about religion, so I invented my own meaning for this (smile) |

| Motion City Soundtrack – Pop Song 89 (REM cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| To me this sounds a lot like the chorus is saying "shouldn't we talk about the weather / shouldn't we talk about the government?" Although I realize that it's about the shallowness of modern relationships, I used to like to think that the chorus was about a relationship so great that it shocks the singer. Like, he believes they should be talking about something mundane or trying to make pointless conversation because that's what he's used to, but instead they know each other so well that they have much more meaningful conversation. Just a thought. =D | |
| Something Corporate – Fall Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think it's about sex. The first chorus, instead of "I faltered as the music stops", Andrew sings "I fucked her as the music stops", further supporting this theory. |

| Alkaline Trio – The Poison Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I have to agree with the drug interpretations...I love the line "and how could a rooftop view in london / look just the same as one in brooklyn"...one of my fave songs right now | |
| Hellogoodbye – Jesse Buy Nothing... Go to Prom Anyways Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| PROM WITH JESSE | |
| Jack's Mannequin – The Lights and Buzz Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Although it could be about cancer/remission, my original take was this: Andrew had a bad breakup with a girlfriend in a certain town in southern California. Now he's returning to the town and being bombared by the memories. Hence "Here's my reservation: I've gotten lost here once before inside a good vibration" where the good vibration is the relationship. Also, "It feels like summer all the time" could be how the relationship happened in summer and now, even though it's a long time from then (winter), he can't forget how things were. |

| Jimmy Eat World – Goodbye Sky Harbor Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Read some of the other comments. John 16:11 is (I just looked it up) "Judgment will come because the prince of this world has been judged" (it's different in different Bible versions, but the basic messge remains the same). Symbolism, maybe? | |
| Jimmy Eat World – Goodbye Sky Harbor Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Okay, two comments. First, is there any way to change the spelling to "Sky HARBOR"? Nothing against the Brits, but the spelling on Clarity, at least here in the US, is "Harbor". Second, the length of the song...I haven't read throuhg every comment, so I don't know if it's been figured out, but what if it's a Bible verse? No idea what book, but 16:11 could be some passage in the Bible...didn't think of that until I finished Owen Meany earlier today. |
