summer teeth is tweedy'd description of the album. once he wrote the lyrics he thought they were too dark and it would upset his listeners, so he made the music sweet and fairly poppy (see candy floss). so the album appears sweet like summer, but it really has hard, sharp, dangerous teeth. |

I think it's important to remember that Tweedy doesn't necessarily have a meaning in mind when he writes lyrics. He says that sometimes he sings a lyric and it just makes him feel a certain way. He finds value in this so he puts them in his songs. I think "take off your Band-Aid because I don't believe in touchdowns" is a great example. He regularly challenges the listener to forge his own interpretations, which I think elevates him above many other artists. |

| Wilco – Ashes of American Flags Lyrics

I gotta say that I've listened to this song too many times to count, and I think that "saluting the ashes of American flags" is really a statemeant about how Tweedy still loves the US despite all of the awful things that happen here. He is a patriot, loving a country that is destroying itself. |
