| Arcade Fire – City with No Children Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I feel like I've been living in A city with no children in it A garden left for ruin by a millionaire inside Of a private prison I took this as "I've been living in a city with no future because its being ruined by the rich." I don't think there's any other extended meaning (occam's razor, anyone?). No kids = no future. The "private prison" might be the government or just a self-imposed, figurative prison ("money doesn't buy happiness" is what comes to mind). I feel like you could argue the "private prison" is American government because America is aka "land of opportunity" which can explain the garden allusion. "There's so much chance for prosperity in this garden (America), but it's being destroyed by someone (the rich/ the powerful/ the government." |

Craigfindler's and terroristscum's interpretation was much more interesting than Russe's find. Just sayin'! |

| The Magnetic Fields – The Book of Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I was watching the Scrubs season finale when this came on. I thought, "HOLY SHIT, IT'S THE MAGNETIC FIELDS!... But wtf is this?" It was a damn cover (by Peter Gabriel I presume) which isn't nearly as good as the original. But props to Gabriel because he actually put his own spin to it. A lot of artists nearly copy identically from artists they're "covering." But why does Peter Gabriel's page for this song have more comments than this? Blehhhhh. Anyway, this song is absolutely beautiful. The lyrics are pretty straight forward too. | |
| The Mountain Goats – Southwood Plantation Road Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I live in Tallahassee, too. I also live in Southwood (even more so, the road I live on is right off of Southwood Plantation Road). There are no trailers on it, but from the beginning of the road to the end, there's about five or six "impoverished" houses (it's about 2-3 miles long too). Southwood itself is a yuppy community where nearly every house is on top of one another and picked out of a standard designs. | |
| Her Space Holiday – My Girlfriend's Boyfriend Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I interpret this song as the writer lacking serious talent. | |
| Her Space Holiday – Meet The Pressure Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The little kid in the beginning is more profound and articulate than the shitty lyrics of this band. | |
| Her Space Holiday – Japanese Gum Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
SHIT! Absolute SHIT! This guy was hit with the talentless stick relentlessly. |
|
| Her Space Holiday – Sleepy California Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I rather poke my eyes out than let my eyes melt away from these awful as sin lyrics. | |
| Her Space Holiday – Tech Romance Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| If this is Her Space Holiday's BEST song, then it definitely does not set a high bar for the rest of the songs. And the bar is already very, very low because he CANNOT WRITE LYRICS. | |
| Her Space Holiday – You And Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"How could so much good exist in such a tiny heart despite of all the pain she's in she never falls apart And if she does it lasts the length of seven songs she dries her tears on her best friend's sleeves" ROFL. These are, by far, some of the worst lyrics I have ever read. |
|
| Her Space Holiday – You And Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Awful. | |
| The Faint – Drop Kick the Punks Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song sounds so much like something Beep Beep would've written. I love itttttttt. |
|
| The Magnetic Fields – California Girls Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love this song. Attacking the women who follow the behavior pattern that our wonderful western society has influenced through pop culture upon the United States. In the first stanza, I'm pretty sure it's be "Tan and blond and seventeen." I can't wait for the new Magnetic Fields' album. I also hate these California girls. |
|
| The Magnetic Fields – Three-Way Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Definitely about a three-way phone conversation. Duh. | |
| Björk – An Echo, A Stain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song also reminds me of rape. The whole, "You can't say no to me," part sounds like someone is forcing themselves on to another. An echo makes me think of someone screaming. A stain makes me think of semen or other fun reproductive stuff; perhaps blood. But there's the whole, "I can't say no to you." I'm kind of on the fence with this, some rape cases you have women dealing with it in very strange ways. Also the free falling part is her breaking down slowly and everything going on a downward spiral. Although, I do also agree with scarlet tsunami. I love Bjork for making her songs so broad. There are so many ways to interpret her songs. | |
| Björk – Declare Independence Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| th1nk4y0urself definitely hit the nail on the head. I couldn't agree more. But this song is GREAT! It makes me want to mosh--or at least the end does. When she's screaming "declare independence!" And on top of that, to start a revolution. | |
| !!! – Pardon My Freedom Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Sliggity's comment made me LOL pretty hard. And I really agree. I also like the cursing in it a lot. For the meaning, I think it's pretty straight forward. No metaphors to decipher. | |
| PlayRadioPlay! – Confines of Gravity Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love PlayRadioPlay! This is my favorite song off of his new EP. I like how he sings his 'I' sounds in words, too. lol. |
|
| Arcade Fire – (Antichrist Television Blues) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The last two lines are wrong. In the CD jacket is reads, "I'm threw being cute, I'm through being nice. Oh! Tell me lord, am I the Antichrist?!" Love this song. I kind of wish it wasn't about him criticizing parents of pop-culture kid icons, though. When I first heard it I thought he actually wanted a kid and it was sweet. Guess snot. But I still don't get the imagery of 9/11 at the beginning, whether it be intentional or not. |
|
| M. Ward – Seashell Tale Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| ?? No comments on this?! This is song is BEAUTIFUL. I love, no, ADORE it. Bright Eyes did a cover of this song. Both versions are amazing. | |
| Arcade Fire – This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody) (Talking Heads cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I really love the beat to this song. It's neat. I can't say the lyrics are my favorite though. It has some good parts... but at other parts it's just kind of... dumb. | |
| Arcade Fire – Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeahs cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think that this version is better than the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs version in some aspects. It's much more emotional and raw than their [Yeah(x3)]. I don't know how to find this anyother way but off of limewire. It was under the album "BBC Radio One- The Live Lounge" Obviously, it's a live recording. |

| Arcade Fire – Vampire/Forest Fire Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Too brokenspoons, Vampires don't live in the forest. They live in Castles. Grant it, the castle could be in the forest, but for the sake of the arguement, this one doesn't. They were created in old times when most people couldn't afford to eat well, and they can. Jealousy blah, blah, they whole "blood sucking" thing comes from how Counts and Dukes suck the life out of people. I'm not entirely sure, but it is deffinately something along those lines. I don't remember what my teacher said exactly. Anyway, this song is deffinately about confronting your past, or at least, I can really see it being like that. "Your father was a pervert Face down in the dirt He taught you how to hurt" I get impression that she was abused. Sexually, physically, and emotionally. "Your sister pours the gasoline I'll fix your meals while your burns heal!" [The person he's singing about]'s sister was obviously abused as well. Pouring the gasoline means getting ready to destroy your past, forget about it and to never look back. "If I let where I'm from burn I can never return!" He confronted the problem of the past instead of running away from it, I guess. I'm not entirely sure about it. But I think it's something like that. I hope that makes sense, and you can see how it ties into Confronting your past. |

| Arcade Fire – Haiti Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I used to think Neighborhood #1 was The Arcade Fire's best song. Until I listen to this, i'm torn between the two. This song is so beautiful, even though the lyrics are depressing, the music tone sounds so happy that it cheers me up. French is such a lovely language. | |
| Bright Eyes – I've Been Eating (For You) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I read in the Noise Floor CD jacket that this is possibly the meanest song he has ever written. | |
| Bright Eyes – Bad Blood Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song could quite possibly = the sex. I got it before the Noise Floor album was release (limewire ftw) and I fell in love with it for like, 230284 months (more like a couple of weeks.) If this song isn't way popular soon, you guys are craaaaazy. |
|
| Bright Eyes – Seashell Tale (M. Ward cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Mmm. This is my 2nd favorite off of the album. In my honest opinoin, he doesn't do cover songs must justice, I would love to listen to the original version of this song and compare the two. Even if it's worse, it's still good. Can anyone tell me who wrote it? | |
| Bright Eyes – Weather Reports Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's deffinately my favorite off the Noise Floor album, too. It's amazing. The cello towards the last part makes it 12903847389274 times better, too. | |
| Bright Eyes – Weather Reports Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's deffinately my favorite off the Noise Floor album, too. It's amazing. The cello towards the last part makes it 12903847389274 times better, too. | |
| Bright Eyes – Poison Oak Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
What I think it means: As everyone else has already stated many times: It's about his brother who is sexually confused about himself and is going through problems in his life. He decides to run away from it all and develops a drug addiction. "You wrote bad checks to fill your arm" Or running away because of the addiction. OR when I first heard it, i thought he wrote bad checks at grocery stores... to get food and such. Either works. And a little correction: "And I don't think that I ever loved you more. Than when you turned away." I think it should be "Well, I don't think that i've ever loved you more. THEN when you turned away" Than is used to compare 2 things.. why would you love them so much for running away that you'd want a war? The garden part I'm thinking he finds his brother again and they have an emotional scene. "I'm still soaking wet from your brothers tears." If i'm right, Conor has more than one brother. So he is probably talking to him there. The last 2 parts I think his brother dies from ODing on drugs or dying some how. "Now I'm drunk as hell on a piano bench, And when I press the keys it all gets reversed. The sound of lonliness makes me happier. " He's devistated and trying to drown out the pain with alcohol. And "the sound of lonliness makes me happier" makes me think that he is in denial about the tragedy... like, "He was annoying, i'm better off" just my 2 cent. |

| Beep Beep – Electronic Wolves Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Again with creepy lyrics. But it's so damn catchy, I love it. | |
| Bright Eyes – Easy/Lucky/Free Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Just so you know, It isn't "Flippin' thoughts" its, "Flippant thoughts"... flippant: Adjective 1. Marked by disrespectful levity or casualness; pert. He even rights it in the music video. Just thought I should clear that up (If anyone hasn't yet) |
|
| Bright Eyes – When the Curious Girl Realizes She Is Under Glass Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song makes me so happy. I can't figure out why. But it makes me so very, very happy. | |
| Bright Eyes – The Joy in Forgetting/The Joy in Acceptance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is just AMAZING. I love the part where he is talking to his mom. It gives me chills how emotional it is. Also, I thought the song was called The Joy in Forgetting/The Joy in Acceptance? And what album does this come off of?? I'd like to look at the other songs off the album. | |
| Beep Beep – Giggle Giggle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Creeeeepy song. But I still like it. | |
| Bright Eyes – Supriya Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I Agree with Astrisemokid, the beginning to this song is amazing. I love this song a lot. But I will say it took me a few times listens to like it. | |
