| Days of the New – Enemy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This band's lyrics are unclear but this one I understand. Once I tried to help a friend by telling him what he needed to hear but didn't want to hear and I found myself thinking, I'm not the one who's trying to be your enemy. | |

| Anathema – Temporary Peace Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This song reminds me of the album cover, like he's picked this day to leave behind this pathetic facade of a life and goes to the beach on a whim. And as the world is going to shit all around him the beauty of this place is still intact and with this woman he's with (who I asume the female voice is supposed to be) he gets this fleeting feeling of comfort, which trancends every other pursuit he's abandoned. |

"by i_am_the_law on 06-16-2006 @ 09:05:46 AM the line "i wish you could see the love in her eyes" is one that i often feel like quoting, even though in my case its just wishful thinking as the love just isnt there im afraid." Odd i was thinking the exact same thing. Its a great lyric and a sad song. That line makes me wish i could |

yea listen to this song stoned and you'll feel great some of the lyrics are so sexy Well, I know you know better, everything I say, meet me in the country for a day. We’ll be happy and we’ll dance, Oh, we're gonna dance our blues away. And if I’m feelin’ good to you and you’re feelin’ good to me there ain’t nothin’ we can't do or say. Feelin’ good, feeling fine, Oh, baby, let the music play. " |

| Porcupine Tree – The Sky Moves Sideways (Phase One) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
To me, this song is about the modern industrial era and how there's no mystery to life anymore: "We lost the skyline We stepped right off the map" This refers to the invention of airplane and being able to fly. The sky is no longer something to look and marvel at, hence "we lost the skyline" "Drifted in to blank space And let the clocks relapse" -refering to spacetravel and so forth A lot of the porcupine tree songs are deep Whenever I see a plane in the sky I think of these lyrics. |

| Godspeed You! Black Emperor – The Dead Flag Blues Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song has to be about the fall of capitalism and modern civilization that as brought us a life of corruption, greed, and consumerism, void of passion, emotion etc. and I think its set in the near future. The first verse is about how out of control the government is: "The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel", "We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine and the machine is bleeding to death" -I think this is a take on how the entire country is so out of control and lacking direction, leadership that it crumbles under the weight of its own corruption. the sun has fallen down (people feel hopeless) and the billboards are all leering and the flags are all dead at the top of their poles (consumerism has taken over and people no longer feel allegiance to their country and people, but rather to products and advertising. Hence "the sun has fallen down" Then it tells the story of how civilization collapsed: the buildings tumbled in on themselves mothers clutching babies picked through the rubble and pulled out their hair the skyline was beautiful on fire all twisted metal stretching upwards everything washed in a thin orange haze -The best part of the song is: "i said: "kiss me, you're beautiful - these are truly the last days" romantic undertones of the worlds ending, probably my favorite lyric in any song |
