In a way the entire album really is a themed album about moving on, waking up and realizing there's more to life then just moping around. This song and the last song on the CD go well together. This is really a well put together CD with a few songs threw in there just for fun (honeybee, Cabin Down Below.) I really like how he put "Crawling back to you." right before "Wake up time." it's like he put them togethere to make a story about himself. How he keeps wanting to crawl back to his ex-wife but then realizes it's time to wake up. The album really was made in a way for himself....and for him to get out his feelings on situations. |

Yeah, this song really hit me hard the other day, being a graudate from high school it made me realize that it's time to wake up and start following my dreams. I've heard this song several times before but never really paid attention to the lyrics until then. That's when it hit me hard and it gives me chills when he says "It's wake up time. Time to open up your eyes...and rise....and shine." I love how he says that part. It's really a very underrated Tom Petty song just like several songs of his that get lost in the mush of his "hits".. |

Also, if anyone notices the beggining of this song sounds quite similar to "Shine on you crazy diamond PT.1" by Pink floyd. Just listen to shine on you crazy diamond then listen to Octavarium. Hmmm. Dream Theater are obviously heavily influenced by Pink Floyd. In SFAM for instance some of the acoustic parts in the album sound quite a bit like the first and last songs on The Wall. |
