I adore this song. Definitely my favouritie Iron and Wine song. I just love the idea of "Fuck the man" being graffitid on the gates of Heaven. |

Actually the songs are fairly easy to find on the web. Google "Hardly Dangerous", many of them are available on a fan site of that name.
Oh also: I love this song. SO much. |

It's a break up song. Fairly straight forward and easy to follow and by god if it isn't one of the finest songs ever written. If ever you needed proof that Sean Nelson is one of the greatest songwriters of this or any generation, here it is. |

Oh this is just a fantastic song, musically and lyrically. I just wish they'd done an epic music video for it (cameo appearance by Ben Gibbard as the plain clothes cop) |

I'm 98% sure this is about the Columbia incident. Espescially as it said on the website that the EP featured a song about a space shuttle crash. The "crew compartment" section is just heart breakaing. |

Seans' back ups on this one are fantastic. It is a fairly simple idea and not as off-the-wall and unique as most Long Winters songs, but it's a perfect little pop song. |

"Throwing shapes" is slang for trying to appear more important than you are or something. Probably my least favourite on the album but still damn catchy and the guitar part is great. |

| The Long Winters – New Girl Lyrics

Basically seems to be John heaping praise upon a girl he's recently befriended. I'm not really sure, but I know that it makes me very happy.
Anyone know what the "No, you are" bit is about? Or the rest of it for that matter. |

I didn't think it was that he'd murdered the girl but that she'd gone missing and he's being asked by the police when he last saw her so they can try to find her and all he can say is that her skin is cinammon. |

Yep. It's about being in love and being broke. The opening line might be my favourite first line of any song ever. Ben Gibbard plays drums on this one, fact fans. |

Methinks it does actually make some sense. It would seem to be from the perspective of someone who is either planning or has just comitted a complicated heist of some sort. Anyway, damn catchy. I'm just sayin'. |

It's also about the most ridiculously brilliantly epic bit of music that JRod has ever produced. The moment when the guitar drops out leaving just the string section is just beautiful. |

| Sufjan Stevens – Chicago Lyrics

I dont think there's that much to say about this one. Lyrics are pretty direct and when you remember that Sufjan is a Christian all that "You came to take us, to recreate us" stuff makes sense.
It's an utterly fantastic song, definitely my favourite on Illinoise and I love the three different versions on The Avalanche. |

| The Decemberists – Sixteen Military Wives Lyrics

I find it hilarious that anyone thinks the lines about liberal minds are actually attacking liberalism. Never heard of satire people?
Personally I agree with it being anti-war , anti-Bush and all that and then you've also got the stuff about the Academy Awards (which is pretty inspired, I'd say) and the way it all becomes sort of meaningless when reported.
