This sounds like a song about a girl named Jolene (obviously lol) who was either a downer or bad luck just seemed to follow her. Also with the mention of whiskey it sounds like maybe she had a drinking problem. That had a negative effect on her relationship. Even though her "lover" doesn't seem to mind he is willing to work through all of their problems. Jolene, afraid of commitment, runs away leaving him alone with what would seem like an easy life to anyone else besides him. Because even though the relationship was hard, he loved her and she was it for him. Now that he doesn't have her, he doesnt know what to do. So now he wonders if she is like that still or if she has moved on and is happy. At least that's what I got. =] |
