We heard it first, folks. Just pay attention. I say it's about someone who has the most terrible nightmares and in the end he's like "fuck it all I will go back to sleep and face the demons in my head". It can also translate to the patient accepting his own death and saying goodbye to everything and everyone, to face the unknown. |

backfruey i think you're wrong, i feel it refers more to human relationship's chemistry than drugs. But then again it might be about jimmy's addiction too. This seems unlikely because it seems too personal to be about anyone else than the writer of the song, aka billy, who's never had big drug issues. I love the last 2 lines... You can play with the song order in this album. If you put this one in the end, it's like the sad climax ending. if you put With Every Light, it's the comforting optimistic ending. And if you put Age Of Innocence, it's the more mature and resigned ending. |

I think that Arriving is about the amazingly animal, earthly, non-thinking state that arises to someone in a critical situation just beore an unnatural death like being in an accident or faced with total evil. The brain gets out of it's normal "gotta go finish my book and take a shower" thoughts and just being confronted with something that turns your life around so bad it makes your head spin. In the particular case of the ghost story it could either be about being assaulted by sadistic freaks that torture and kill you, or being in an accident and dying in a ER like an2000 said. |
