there's something amazing about Idlewild - it's the cryptic nature of the words that confuse you but at the same time feel like everything you've ever thought but never been able to express.
That said, for me, this song is about how people put up walls between themselves and the world, but Roddy's suggesting that there's really no point to it.
I'm probably wrong. But I'm just so glad that Idlewild exist. And that they're making music like this again. |

This is me and my best friends song, and when I don't know who I am, its what I listen to, because it's just so beautiful and honest,
to me, the whole song is about opening up and being dependent on/ vulnerable (but in a good way) with someone, but being a little worried about it, but finally realising that they're always going to be there for you.

John Hassall was the bass player for the Libs- so i was wondering if there was some sort of classic moment where Johnny Borrell (undoubtedly pissed) looked at John Hassall and said "don't you know who i think i am?"
i get the feeling that that would be one of those *moments*
the patti smith thing "the boy looked at johnny, johnny wanted to run" is a line from her song Horses, which is one of the most difficult songs to understand, but i've always felt that its about being roughed up/raped in a hallway. so if the Libs have made a reference, its.....too far away for my tired little mind to make the connection. but yes. |

BRMC are the one of the few bands left who have a truly original sound. This song is just....gah....elleon is right. its fucking amazing. if you've never listened to BRMC before, then you need to dorp everything and go now. To me this song is about that whole idea of being left behind but still being there, in view of everyone who's left you, and still sticking to your guns. BRMC are my heroes. |

this song....wow. the gasp at the beginning, the way he shrieks BANG! You're Alive! at the end. its an attack on the typical american family unit, BRMC's saying that it doesn't exist as such. or something. its like a big fuck you to family. although sometimes i get this feeling its about sex _-> "i wont quiver, i dont squirm or sweat" and "god just make it quick" or it could just be one of those songs that are throwing ervything around the room in anger. whatever it is, i love it and it couldn't be better. |

maybe its me, but i always here "sure feels like..." instead of "she feels like..." but meh. this is spinetingly amazing stuff. i dont think theres any band like BRMC for grabbing your attention and holding you by the jugular. or something. |

this song never fails to make me cry. but in a good way. i have a feeling its about death, but i read something that Tom Smith (editors lead singer) said "i don't like writing stories" which i think says alot about all their songs. my favourite band, hands down. |

"i'll stay sober just for you" seems to me like he's desperate to get really really really really drunk over the fact that he'll never be as "cool" as Andrew The Starfighter Pilot. i love how this song sounds like a band having fun. |

its off the single for "Bullets" i think....something like that. to me, this song's kinda of defeated, but at the same time gorgeous. its like he's saying that he's giving up on something, but thats ok, because he's kinda happy with what he's got?
