| The Go-Betweens – Five Words Lyrics

About the Clergy, and how people make heros how of big people, like the generals, while messing with the people.
Also, it's been said alot that this song has to do with not digging up the past, with the chanting of "Bury them, don't keep em." So maybe something like, we should have heros, when people die just give em to the worms and more on.
And of course, the go-betweens should be in everyones collection. Every child should be issued a go-betweens album on bird. |

Great song, one of my fav. lines is "this isn't a court of justice song, this is a court of law."
I agree with the sentiment of the song also, it reflects the new "Law and order" route that society has been going down since the 1980s. |

Yeah, but willia05 is wrong also, because it comes from Australia. The union movement in this country is what made it so strong and they are even more important now with all of the IR changes that are happening here.
I worked plenty hard in my job, was one of the hardest workers, but I was fired because I wouldn't sign their new contracts, which took away my sunday and public holiday pay. Probably hired some poor 16 year old in my place, and are in the process of rooting him. I'm not much older, but I know when i'm being taken advantage of. |

strummerville: I have always thought of "Punk Rawk" as being a term for that new-punk stuff (that, I must say, i'm not a fan of), not talking about post-punk, but new-punk, you all know what i'm talking about, while just Punk as original, better stuff. |

The New Party were a pro-nazi facist party set up in the 1930s in England. The members and supporters of the party (the New Party Army) would raid communist meetings, bash non-white people and jewish people in the street. So i'm pretty sure that The New Party Army is that New Party. Could be about the large amount of skinhead, facist nuts that were invading punk gigs at the time, I don't know. But the New Party thing ties in with what Indiemonkey was saying. |
