Alright so this is what i get from this song. He is talking to his child and singing to him/her before bed. Then when he says "light up light up as if you have a choice" hes telling his child be happy but he knows the child really cant be. I think something has gone wrong between the childs parents (him and then his wife/girlfriend). So his singing to his child saying "Have heart my dear We're bound to be afraid"and "Even if it's just for a few days Making up for all this mess" So perhaps the parents have split and mabey the child is dying and hes trying to comfort him/her "To think I might not see those eyes Makes it so hard not to cry And as we say our long goodbye I nearly do" |
