okay im new at this but i love this song so ill give it a try.... heres what i think its like in stages of the breakup or something first, its the actual breakup ("you and i undone for the last time") and he knows its pretty much gone for good and theres know point in trying to fix it ("and there this was hiding at the bottom of your swimming pool") and he really wishes it would be worth it to fix it ("dont you think i wish that i could stay") And its hurting him so much to know that he's gonna be without her but he just wants her to leave him alone and not save (rescue) him from all the pain hes feeling bc its not worth it bc he knows it will only happen again bc apparently its happened before if this is "the last time". and he knows shes probalby hurting too but he doesnt want to stay with her bc it will only end miserably so hes "following myself just this once" the next stage is that point after a breakup, after you've cried for days and days, where you just dont feel anything anymore. (i'm finally numb) and he feels that hes come so far that he hopes she will leave him be because he doesnt want to be rescued. then the final stage is where he's starting to second guess his desicion (im feeling like i might need to be near you) but he realizes that he made the right desicion and it will be good for both of them so he still doesnt want to be "rescued" (i feel alright so please dont get me rescued) this makes me think of me and him. we were off and on for so long. and when things were good, it was awesome, but otherwise it was hell. well it finally ended and he kept doing asshole things for 4 months and he finally made me hate him enough to where i was okay with the fact that we were over for good but then after 5 months he decides to "rescue" me! but he only ended up hurting me again! so this time i wont let anyone rescue me! im at the "finally numb" point so yay! but thats my interpretation! |
