| Have you ever hear that old phrase "It doesn't matter how right you are if you're mean" ? For the record I believe you to be wrong, but if you were right this would not be the way to get your point across. | |

Please... please... please get up off your knees Please... please... please leave me out of this please Within the context of the religious violence of the troubles would this not be God telling the people to quit praying for such a war and such violence? Please get up off your knees, please, leave me out of this, please. God doesn't want them to keep pretending that he has anything to do with their murderous actions. |

First of all, I'd like to say good for Matty T. Secondly I'd like to take my own shameless attempt at understanding this song. I *sort of* agree with MAugustineP and Chowderhead. But I think it's actually somewhat of a reverse. The band when they went mainstream got a lot of crap from CHRISTIANS for selling out. I remember being at Creation West just after they had an album hit the mainstream and they were thanking the crowd that was present for still supporting them because they'd been really down about how people were claiming they were rejecting the Christian market, and selling out, etc. Also I think "the road" that he/they don't want to go down is simply further down the road of analysis and speculation of if they are better/worse so long as they're staying true to themselves and having a good time. Essentially it's a response to people trying to critique them simply by saying they're getting worse, ot that they're selling out. Paying attention to the scene and herd seem to make it all a little bit worse, so he/they aren't going to, cause they're having a good time. And because each individual person is they're own worst critic he says "I'll be the first to tell you I’m worse. " But again, that's not what he wants to focus on, because he's having a good time so "but I don't wanna go down that road." he's not going to focus on it, he's not going to go down that road. |

| Ben Folds – Fred Jones Pt. 2 Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| To me it's not really about retirement. It's about the older generation being laid off in favor of the younger generation. I suppose the fact that it's the exact thing that happened to my Dad shows a bit of a bias there. Anyway my dad had worked for a company for 22 years and was laid off because after a merger with another company this other company had chosen a younger guy with much less experience to take his job, and this guy though he still didn't really even know my dad ("no one knows his first name") would still call for the next couple of years asking questions, and my dad being the nice guy he is, would answer them. The company? Their name now is Novartis, they make your contacts, and Boost energy drinks. Though my dad actually worked in the Ag. division of all that. | |

| Do you have a religious background though? Whether he adheres to the faith or not he was raised quaker so though he doesn't believe in the religious figures mentioned they can still hold a stronger meaning to him than a person raised without that faith background. | |
| U2 – I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I've been told Bono is Presbyterian, specifically from the Presbyterian Church of Ireland (PCI) and attends First Pres Hollywood when in the area (my pastor used to work there as an associate pastor, and he's told stories) His father was protestant, and his mother Catholic, at the Feb. 2nd 2006 National Prayer Breakfast in DC he described himself as "half-Catholic" if that eases anyone's confusion about his faith background. To me, it's a song about a never ending search for God, because though they say "but I still haven't found what I'm looking for" there's no disapointment implied by the music, they've accepted the journey and are happy to keep looking. It's a very peaceful song. |
