well anthony has talked before about loving life in all of its up and downs, he was quoted in rolling stone saying "Sometimes it makes sense to thank the universe for all the pain it gives you, because that's where growth comes from. If you just bum out on pain and suffering, you don't get the lesson." that was about Torture Me, but i get that same kind of vibe from this song, just aprecciating all the energies of life |

this song seems to me like a song of renewal..starting over. kind of catharsis. maybe finding god, or something deep inside of yourself or your life that brings you peace and fulfillment. dusting off your savior, forgiving your behavior..i took that as finding a new meaning and way of life, and holding no regrets but only learning lessons from past experiences/mistakes. that's just how i interpreted it. |

i just think its about some of his insecurities..like hwo rolling stone said he "confessed a fear" by saying the risk is it worth it the disc is it perfect...and maybe throughout the song he references his past drug problems. so many of their songs are so powerful because of the deeply personal approach they take to making their music...i think that no one but them is really supposed to know the true meaning of any of their songs. it's their personal expression through art, but it's open to interpretation. |

John took Smile from the Streets you hold off the market a while after he recorded it, because he was "ashamed of the motives" behind the album..he just made it to get drug money
but i completely respect john and he is an amazingly talented artist. he's just seen a side of life that has hopefully made him a stronger person today |
