Am I the only one who noticed that the lyrics listed here aren't correct? If tomorrow never comes I would want just one thing I would tell it to the stars and sun I would write it for the world to see ... Trace your steps with my fingertips Forgive me, I had to fix that. Honestly, I think it's a beautiful song and the beauty of it, to me, is how nonspecific it is. Anyone, absolutely anyone, can listen to this song and think of their significant other. It's the person you love, and just your longing for them. Whatever your circumstances, you can relate to Michelle in this song. And I agree wholeheartedly that she sounds lovely. Her voice is phenomenal, and I always find myself swept away by her music. |

I honestly don't see this as much of a fight song, and much more as a forbidden (not so much unrequited) love. I feel like she loves this guy, and he obviously has feelings for her as well, but for some reason they cannot be together. But, as we all know, that doesn't stop the sparks from happening. A couple of different lines are pointing me away from the fight theory and towards this: I've been waiting for a chance to let you in - This suggests that they are not together, but she wants to be. (There are a couple other lines like this but I wont list them) saying things we never meant to say - This says to me that whatever sparks are flying between her and this guy, they aren't supposed to say it. It may be true and they may both feel it, but it's somehow forbidden and therefore not a good idea to admit by talking about it. This song says to me that she is trying so hard to either make this relationship work or make it stop, and having a rather difficult time of it. In the chorus, I do agree that she's kind of telling us how she's coping. But she isn't supposed to be with this guy for whatever reason, and is really wanting things to work out one way or another, but for now she's just stuck in limbo. |

Let me just say this: for the first Kingdom Hearts theme, Simple and Clean, I first heard it in English, and I thought it was pretty great. I've just recently gotten my hands on the original, Hikari, and it's so much better. For this, I first heard Passion, and only heard Sanctuary much later. Sancutary sounds very silly after being first exposed to Passion. However, the important thing about this is not that Passion is in Japanese, and therefore superior, but simply because it is the original. Translations of songs never turn out quite as good as the original. They lose feeling and meaning in the translation process, and often (as in this case) the words sound forced. Therefore if this had been originally written in English and then later translated into Japanese, I'm sure the English version would be better. However, it was not, and that means that Passion is far superior to Sanctuary. |
