King Crimson – Easy Money Lyrics 19 years ago
When played live the 2nd verse goes thusly:

Well I bargained with the Judge,
but that bastard wouldn't
when they caught me licking fudge
but they never told me you were a minor

Tool – The Pot Lyrics 19 years ago
If you don't understand why the US government (not President Bush by himself) decided to bomb Iraq you don't understand politics. And to the best of my knowledge bin Laden never bombed the US, nor US soil anywhere else in the world. Anywho, this song is about general hypocrisy, mostly directed at the US government or any other goverment, with pot being sort of an example, not what the song is about. Which, to agree with some of the people on this forum, is beneath Keenan as a lyracist.

Tool – The Pot Lyrics 19 years ago
"the pot called the kettle black" I feel that this cliche is at the heart of this songs meaning. I think this is an encapsulation of Maynard's political views. Though he is an avid detractor of Bush and republicans I can't think that this song is purely anti-Republican. Democrats are just as responsible for the things he seems to be railling against in this particular song.

Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics 19 years ago
For anyone who questions whether this song has a drug influence in it look no further than the subtext to lost keys. Hoffman is the name of the man who first created LSD in a labratory for ergot fungus. I'm not dismissing this song as a simple "druggy" song, Tool isn't that juvenile, but I am saying that drugs play a part in the song. Look no further to Tool's website, the use the phrase "blame hoffman" repeatedly when reffereing to LSD.

Emperor – I Am The Black Wizards Lyrics 19 years ago
I believe this song to be a tale about a man who has lived throughout the ages, being incarnated as different forces of evil through history. It reminds me of a dark version of Patton's speech in the movie of the same name wherein he claims to be the reincarnation of past generals. This song also has a Lovecraft-ian feel to it. Maybe the force in question is Nyarlathotep?

A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is about Maynard's mother, Judith Marie. The word paralyzed is used literally. It isn't anti-christian per se, which is juvenile and beneath him lyrically. It is more question his mother's faith after the stroke that left her paralyzed. See Wings of Marie Parts 1 and 2 for the rest of the story so to speak, they could almost form a trilogy, though the tracks on 10,000 days are much more positive towards his late mother.
