| It's about a guy rushing a girl to the hospital after she's slit her wrists and he's telling her that he'd give her anything in the world, if only she'd ask for it. | |
| The Goo Goo Dolls – Broadway Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I always kind of thought it was about seeing you neighborhood--the place you grew up in--as the whole world and then going out and experiencing life and everything the world really is and then comming home and realizing that there's just nothing left for you there. | |

To me, it seems like he's talking to a girl who he desperately wants to reach and save from the evils of the world. "Saccharine caffeine nicotine gum Yeah it tastes sweet but it's not for long And I just think you thought it would be When you're looking for truth on the cover of a magazine How does it feel When you find out what you're not gonna be They give you your image and the things you believe Open your eyes tell me what did you see And I just think you thought it surreal" I think right there he's telling the girl to open her eyes and realize that the world isn't at all what she thought it would be, and she needs to straighten her life out. |
