I actually believe it to be the sign of humankind, because I believe WE are the beast. I think it's in Revelation that says - "If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number." After all, 6 is the imperfect number (one short of 7, which is the perfect number) so three 6s, 666, means it is extremely imperfect. And there is nothing, in my opnion, which is extremely imperfect except for mankind. 2) Also, in May 2005 (?) it was questioned by Oxford Scholars, and they used advanced reading thingies to read earlier versions of the book of Revelation (previously illegible), and it was actually shown to be 616. Scholars now believe the number has little to do with the Devil, and it is now thought to be a complicated numerical Greek riddle, possibly for someone's name. Random fact of the day: Probably the best-known scheme has A=100, B=101, and so on. With this code, the name "HITLER" adds up to 666. Another commonly cited example is President Ronald Wilson Reagan, where counting the letters of his first, middle, and last name lead to 666. Or, it is also believed to refer to an entity controlled by the AntiChrist himself. My point I'm trying to make, is that 666 or 616 is not evil. Or the Devil's number. It's imperfect. The number of the Beast. |
