Fall Out Boy – Thriller Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is basically about how a cd can make you feel better

"Fix me in 45" is about cd length, not so much about therapy, though obviously a cd CAN be therapy.

But therapy sessions are usually an hour long...not 45 minutes long.

Never said the SONG was about masturbation...

Only the title.

Fall Out Boy – Hum Hallelujah Lyrics 19 years ago
you can't just say Leonard Cohen, cause that's not fair to the song. I know he wrote it, and originally sang it, but everyone knows this song because of Jeff Buckley, not Cohen.

Buckleys solo guitar version is the version you hear most on TV shows and movies and such where "Hallelujah" is played.

It's frighteningly powerful. Anyone who hasn't listened to it, ought to.

Nobody gets the title?

Seriously?

Carpal tunnel is a condition developed in the wrist when you're using it in awkward positions for too long, or too much....usually caused by typing...USUALLY.

Guys...what ELSE would you use your wrist in repeated movements, over and over and over again?

In case you don't get it, "tunnel of love" is a metaphor for a penis.

In case you STILL don't get it, I'll put it together for you...

Hmmm, aching wrists, and penis...aching wrists, and penis....

WhatEVER could these two things have to do with each other?

:P

You know why there aren't more comments on this song?

Because this is BEFORE the bandwagon. True FOB fans right here.

There's a reason why "Sugar we're going down" and "dance, dance" have like 10 pages worth of crap.

FOB has been great since day one. People seemed to have picked up on them AFTER TTTYG.

Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race Lyrics 19 years ago
And i can say that, seeing as how i've known them since before a lot of people here did.

They grew up in my backyard. I knew them when they were just playing in basements and parties for fun.

You know the DVD where they just had an acoustic in somebody's living room?

Stuff like that.

So....its still them. You don't like it? Then you're not a Fall OUt Boy fan. You're just a fan of a record (TTTYG or FUCT....you pick. I could even say AEWYG, but i'm sure half of you wouldn't know what i'm talking about)

Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race Lyrics 19 years ago
YOu know, i'm beginning to think that all the people who cry foul and bash FOB for their lyrics "not making sense" don't even try.

They expect some cheesy cliched lines that are gonna be obious and poppy. So then when it doesn't look like it makes sense, they go "Ohp! Well thats that! I knew they sucked."

With FOB -you have to look deeper. Otherwise you will sound like an idiot.

This one isn't even all that hard!

You can basically get it all from the first verse:

-I am an arms dealer fitting you with weapons in the form of words.

He's the songwriter(arms dealer), writing songs (weapons in the form of words), which btw, is a nice follow up to My heart is the worst kind of weapon.

With me so far?

-Don't really care which side wins, as long as the room keeps singing...that's just the business I'm in.

The "weapons" songs are all he does. He doesn't influence us to do anything with them. He just writes them. thats it. Theyre not supposed to care what we do with them and his lyrics, they're not supposed to care if we "get it" or not (don't care which side wins), as long as we all keep singing along and buying records (as long as the room keeps singing). And you can't get mad at them for it, because thats the business that they're in now.

Just like actual arms dealers - have you ever seen Lord of War? - Arms dealers would sell guns to Israel AND Palestine; they don't care who wins, as long as they keep buying guns. Thats just the business they're in.

Powerful song. Not really bashing the scene, per se, but more bashing the bashers, saying, "look. We know what you think. And guess what? We don't really give a shit. We're gonna do what is expected of us, and thats making good music, whether you agree or not."

And this song could SOOOO have gone on FUCT so i don't understand why everybody is all "OOOHHHHH FOB SOLD OUT THEY SUCK BLAH BLAH FRICKING BLAH."

This is still fall out boy. Shut up.

Before anyone goes any further, i'm not sure what most of the song says, but i AM sure of one line thats been tossed around here...

"Got postcards from my pharmacist, saying 'How you been? "

You're etheri gonna go with the "postcards-former self" duo, or with the "house calls-pharmacist" one, but a mixture of the two doesn't make sense.

A pharmacist would make house calls more than send postcards, and why in the world would a "Former self" make house calls like a doctor?

Before i explain what i think it is, i honestly think the "postcards from my former self" would be a SWEEEET SWEEEET line, but i don't think thats what it is...

I could be wrong, but it makes more sense, and sounds more like, he's saying "Got house calls from my pharmacist saying 'how you been?' "

Because if any of you remember, (true fans, not OOOOH DANCE DANCE WAS A LOT OF FUN!!!) ) a certain someone in the band had a certain problem with prescription drugs a while back.

It wasn't an addiction problem, before you all get mad and sue me for libel, but an overload of anxiety and an OD on his script. He freaked out. No biggie.

But, thats why his pharmacist wouyld be making housecalls, saying Hey man...how are you doing now? Better?

And honestly, i like arms race WAY better than this song. This song almost seems like they're trying TOIO hard to be something they promised us they would be.

They'll never be a new band. I don't expect them to stay the same, but then i don't expect ANYthing out of them. When you start expecting something, you're setting up the possibility of being disappointed. then what are you gonna do, call them sell-outs when THEY don't please YOU?

I just want good music, powerful lyrics, and feeling like what i'm listening to is important - somehow, someway- to me.

When a band stops feeling what they're doing, and starts thinking about what they're doing....well....

let's just say i don't want to see that happen.

Not to FOB.

Fall Out Boy – I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song) Lyrics 19 years ago
i love how people are like all, "oh my god, they say "the" in the song just like TBS!" it can't be a coincidence!"

yes...and no.

I write music, and i always find myself listening to good music and hearing a good line, and being all "Wow! that really nailed my emotion/thoughts/ideas/struggles" and i'll think about it as i write my songs...

It's all about good ideas.
It's not like FOB is ripping anybody off...if anything, its great that they enjoy/listen/relate to other bands...i mean, look at how passionate we are about Fall Out Boy...its nnice to know that those guys have their own "Fall Out Boy" who they can admire and aspire to be.

Fall Out Boy – My Heart Is the Worst Kind of Weapon Lyrics 19 years ago
umm...it ts definitely lake because you drag lakes for corpses...that are at the bottom...cause they died...

you know.

and also...this is WAY better as the original, acoustic version...

and so is the acoustic version of "nobody puts baby in the corner"

whoever said the acoustic versions aren't as good, obviously can't read the emotion that HAS to come out because its just you , an acoustic, and your lyrics.

Not a band, a studio, some producers. Just your heart.

I wish FOB released a cd with acoustic covers of all their songs, since everybody knows that ALL their songs start as acoustic songs anyways.

ummm...this is just my opinion, but seeing as how FOB absolutely lurves and has mastered the art of the double entendre, i both agree with the relationship meaning, but if you dig deeper and read between the lines, i think you might be presently surprised that you can see an underlying message to all those people (you know who i'm talking about) that write off this kind of music or genre like they know everything..."oh that mainstream garbage" or "fuck that emo shit"....

yeah, let's burn the bridges because you don't want to be associated with me, even though secretly they know they probably enjoy it more than they're willing to admit...

FOB will be they're best kept secret, and their biggest mistake.

he's telling them to shut up (keep quiet), they're easier to please then they let on (nothing comes as easy as you) so can't you just admit that we're good and that you like us (can i lay in your bed all day?)

and the hand behind the pen relives the failure of not reaching those closed minded people everyday.

interesting no?

i can go deeper, but that should give you a start...

Panic! at the Disco – Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off Lyrics 19 years ago
ok...screw this...i got halfway down the ist page and decided i couldn't get all the way through to see if ANYONE got this right....

Harlequin does NOT mean silent.
Halrequin means, a jester or, clown, or in this case wearing bright colors or patterns..as in on their faces...like you know, make up.

testosterone boys, harlequin girls

horny boys, and girls dressed like clowns (sluts)

i mean,,,too each their own interpretations...but i HOPE TO GOD someone gets it right as i read the nine (!!!) pages where eight of them are people saying "OH! THIS SONGS MY FAV!: or repeat their favorite lines...

Yeah...we know how good this song is...thats why we're here. i don't need you telling me how good it is without at least your reasoning for it.

Off i go in search of answers.

Fall Out Boy – I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me Lyrics 19 years ago
hmmm.....
ok...i think (though i could be wrong) that too many people focused on the wrong part of the song and somehow got it to seem like eminem's "kim"....killing people and murder and so and so...

Do we really think Fall out boy would -cleverly, at that- talk about murder, making it the point of the song?

It's not their style...they'd use murder AS the cleverness and have something hidden in IT, because than THAT would be playing into the "emo punk" stereotype they hate so much...

if you wanna know what i think...

This song is about realizing he can sleep with any groupie he winks at (They ARE FOB after all) because admit it, girls pants drop at FOB songs...and so he does it and then he feels remorse over it cause he got attached...and then hating the girl because even though she wanted it, she made him feel bad about it not working out cause,"hey FOB, i'm just a groupie...i sleep with bands" ...eventually that conscience comes back in to work you know?...how did i reach this conclusion? here we go.

"I found the cure to growing older..." theres another cure to growing older, other than dying young...and its staying immortal...what better way to "never die" than to be loved forever? true love has that (supposedly) and this girl will never know true love...even though he may love her cause she "feels like home"...that secret won't ever be told...
"I'm the first kid..." is sarcastic, you know "yeah sleep with me, like i did something original by being in a band, stupid groupie" because he obviously isn't the first to write about love.
"I'm sorry my conscience..." he knows better than to take advantage of the situation aka use her for sex but fuck it, whatever right?
"I've got arrogance..." I can act like an asshole, if that will get you in bed...

"Douse yourself..." *great line!* which is him telling himself (and her) that she isn't worth the time he spends thinking about her - perfume smells nice, but cheap perfume is an imitation, i.e. the girl looks nice, acts nice, is great...but its just a cover cause she's a slut inside who'll sleep with anyone (and no one) and she'd never be able to cover that up.

"Find a safe place..." he's warning her that he's close to the edge obssessing over the confusing feelings he has over some anonymous girl...
"i'm sending your fingernails....back to your family...." just the fact that he held on to mementos like maybe fake fingernails to make her look better at the show that came off and her empty bottles shows his obsession over this girl thats now out of his life, (whether or not he kills her or not: he wants to) and hes sending them to the family to show them how cheap and whore-ish their daughter is...a lush and a slut.
"They call kids like us vicious...people expect a band to not care about anything or anyone...especially girls...we're vicious for not caring about poor girls feelings and taking advantage of them and not showing any remorse for sleeping around ie, carved out of stone
"But for what we've become..." basically them saying, we have feelings to...IN FACT the fact that we can be loved everywhere we go for our music makes it harder to find someone who actually cares for us ie, they feel more alone (i would)
"always weigh what i got...Progress report..." He's always agonizing over the decisions hes made and how they got him where he is now, but all he can think of is that one girl and how she's gone (i feel you bro...)
"Someone old no one new...." its always her with him...its hard to be with someone else thats not her and this is a great way to put it because he talks about how she borrowed him and used him and how sad its made him...

This song....well, to take a page from TBS...lets just say this was a VERY clever napkin...

what does the title mean?

and no, not the "where is your boy" because thats obviously not suppoed to be the original fob title.

Fall Out Boy – Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy Lyrics 19 years ago
ok...first things first...
I'm pretty sure its most definitely not "pants OFF at 4 in the afternoon"

because when you sleep in your clothes, your clothes are ON...

Ok, that said...i agree with the majority saying its about unrequited love (oh fob, you guys have mastered the art of the broken heart!) and guy likes girl, girl dates asshole, girl is blind to guy whos perfect for her...

i love and hate this song but i only hate it because if my heart could talk (or write music, which i do) this is what would come out.

Still as good and meaningful as this song is to me, "my heart is the worst kind of weapon" is 10x better.

ok, ok....100 times better.
