| I love this song but it loses its luster a little more quickly than the rest of the album. To me, it means love is scary and can freak you out, even hurt you, but you have to go with it. Sometimes you have to let the other person "try" you when you're freaked out. | |

It's like a theme song for the Chili Peppers. It's all about playing music. "Subterranean marching band...Beatle mania when I can..." etc. I really like this song cause they talk about searching for that elusive connection you make when you're playing with your audience. Every night, they go looking for that energy which everyone wants. He stays for the little locket of fantasy that the Chili Peppers believe in: playing. Warlocks = playing music is like making magic. All of the talk about big events in big cities with big names and making noise just implies that they love playing music anywhere for anyone around the world. This song is chock-full of fancy instrumentals, too, as a tip of the hat to the lyrics about music. And that's what I think. |
