Dropkick Murphys – Finnegan's Wake Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Oi you kids, these are the actual lyrics, so there shall be no more disputing Tim Finnegan lived in Walkin Street A gentle Irishman, mighty odd He'd a beautiful brogue so rich and sweet And to rise in the world he carried a hod. ya see he'd a sort of the tipplin' way With a love for the liquor poor Tim was born And to help him on with his work each day He'd a drop of the Craythur every morn. Whack fol the dah O, dance to your partner Welt the floor, your trotters shake; Wasn't it the truth I told you Lots of fun at Finnegan's wake! One mornin' Tim was rather full His head felt heavy which made him shake; He fell from the ladder and broke his skull And they carried him home his corpse to wake. They rolled him up in a nice clean sheet And laid him out upon the bed, A gallon of whiskey at his feet And a barrel of porter at his head. His friends assembled at the wake And Mrs. Finnegan called for lunch, First she brought in tay and a cake Then pipes, tobacca' and whiskey punch. Biddy O'Brien began to cry "Such a nice clean corpse, did you ever see? "O Tim, mavourneen2, why did you die?" "Arragh, hold your gob" cried Paddy McGhee! Chorus Then Maggie O'Connor took up the job "O Biddy," says she, "You're wrong, I'm sure" Biddy she gave her a belt in the gob And left her sprawlin' on the floor. And then the war did soon engage 'Twas woman to woman and man to man, Shillelagh law was all the rage And a row and a ruction soon began. Then Mickey Maloney raised his head When a noggin of whiskey flew at him, It missed, and falling on the bed The liquor scattered over Tim! Tim revives! See how he rises! Timothy rising from the bed, Says, "Whirl your whiskey around like blazes" "Thanum an Dhul 3, do you thunk I'm dead?" Craythur is an old Gaelic term for Whiskey. |
Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution – It's A Wonderful Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is probably one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and could hope to hear. BOTAR blows me away, they've also got an album coming out this year! I believe the lyrics say not ---Once again I wake up alone on the wrong side of the bed. And once again you begin your dancing nakedly on the right side of my head.--- But---Once again I wake up alone on the wrong side of the bed. And once again you begin your dance cynically on the right side of my head. And Echo, I agree. He is a musical genius. The best poet/songwriter I've ever heard. |
Streetlight Manifesto – 9mm and a Three Piece Suit Lyrics | 17 years ago |
That's *Isn't* buddy. And yeah, it was from Tomas' old band, but Keasbey Nights got redone as Keasbey Nights, Vol 2 by Streetlight Manifesto..I actually like the way Catch recorded some of the songs a lot more, but I'll support Streetlight more. |
Bouncing Souls – True Believers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
We live our life in our own way, never really listened to what they say, the kind of faith that doesn't fade away we are the true believers----------- I love line! I know these guys weren't thinking about this when they said it, but this does apply (quite well) to what your walk through this life with Jesus Christ should be like. |
Reel Big Fish – The Bad Guy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I get where the man is comin from..Wish I had the guts to be that guy just once. Even with all the heartbreak and such things I've gone through, I'll always the a nice guy.. |
The Briggs – Bored Teenager Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love it, great song. |
Social Distortion – Making Believe Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I feel this song, man... Girl I totally loved liked me, too, but I was too stupid to do anything, and I've lost my chance...*Maybe one day, eh?* |
Stiff Little Fingers – Tin Soldiers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I believe it is, "If at the age of 17, you're father lied to you" not "If at the age of 17 you fall in line too soon" |
Social Distortion – Nickels and Dimes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I love this song, though, I'm not entirely sure what it means. I got a correction for the lyrics, its not "I'm a beggin' for a king with a stolen crown" It is, "I'm a vagabond king with a stolen crown." |
