I always took this track to be saying, "look, were putting so much crap in our atmosphere, plane emissions etc, its killing our world. If we dug down and looked at the evidence of our former climates then we would know where were heading" I'm no tree hugger and i can understand everyone mentioning september 11th, but i think there's a deeper vein in this song. Oh and nina - the meaning is, not was, whatever you take from listening to it as an individual :-) |

sorry salty, but hendrix fingerpicked when he played this with the 12 string, he abandons the plec half way through the intro, then decides to start the song again, you know, when he was "scared as to death" brilliant tho, more poignient retrospectivally, with what he was sayin an all. HENDRIX FOREVER!!! |

I agree with alot of what everyone else thinks about this song, however i'm really intrigued as to who this song is about? My guess is someone who is really famous i always thought he says "the seven foriegn films she's chucked out" as if its films she's been in, i know j-lo has been in a few foriegn films, i'm most probably wrong but thats what it meant to me, any other idea's anyone? |

thats so wierd backwards, the violins sound almost in normal time, quite freaky! an old trick the 'backwards message in the song' thing, hendrix did it years ago, still a great song tho |

its interesting he starts with anger, with jealousy "behind him" this could be how you feel when you see a girl who appears to be out of your reach. I think he feels all his colours (emotions) are not as they should be, and she is a rainbow - all the colours, as they should be, balanced like her emotions, and he's left thinking 'yeah i am mixed up, but my colours are still bright and bold, and i dont know why, ask the axis' |

i think this song is quite obvious, its about being on crack or meth, and making love to a stranger, "Warped lovers loosed on languid stain" two lovers who are both high on the drug, languid stain being the slowed sluggish effect you get from the drug, maybe? |
