To me, this song is about him cheating and then cheating yet AGAIN. Its like: The first degree was a Riot: The first time he got cheated. I'm not afraid but i'm trying...: Basically, "I'm trying..." and then there is a twist. The character in the song doesn't seem to give a fuck about what he's doing... he's even prodding the girl asking "hey.. tell me, how does it feel to be 2nd best?" 'You've settled for less, i'm sure you'll settle again": he's saying the girl has settled for trash like him before, he's sure she'll find another idiot to be with. Then he's talking about how he's gonna "gut her out" or rip her heart out. We got tired, got tired of waiting around (of waiting) The guilt subsides, the night begins (of waiting) And I know it's not what you deserve now That is basically him saying "ok... well, I tried, but i'm tired of this, i'm gonna cheat, even though I know its not what you deserve." Came as a gift from a good friend (a good friend) That dissaproves (but understands) To represent and actively encourage all of my worst habits They all are proof that we are both capable Of the most terrible things Don't test me Basically, this is him talking about how his friend introduced him to her as a "gift", which shows he and his friend have done things like this. And the fact he is with her is just proof of how terrible he can actually be... Thats all I have for the 1st part. |

This song isnt about your everyday troubles or anything. This song is about the slaves and lynching. It bears lyrics from the song "strange Fruit" as in, "these southern tree's bear strange frtuits." It is a very powerful song about the hanging and injustice that has happened to many people. You can tell it is about hangings from the part "Another life swinging in the breeze" Anyways, i just realized this and figured i'd post it up. |
