I don't think the meaning is as upbeat as most people decide it is... From the first verse I'd have thought it was about the beginning of the end of a very meaningful relationship wishing to start over. Then the second verse would be about regret. The next verse is about the future though the second half of it does seem about reconciliation I'd say it would be just a last bit of wishing. The next bit is coming to terms with the fact that it's ending and wishing it wasn't. The second half of it is trying to hold on to them and the last line is how he's failing to do so. |
