well. this sucks. i think this song does have some truths...being american i know lots of people who are ignorant and love daddy's credit cards. but not all of us are like that. it angers me that bp would write this song and then tour the US....thats a bit hypocritical. anybody can be spoilt and ignorant, not just americans. and you shouldnt assume what americans are like unless you have been to america and interacted with the people there. and just cuz one of us is an ass, and he happens to represent our country, doesnt mean we all are. |

this song is not just about bush or america, canada, or wherever. its about the whole world. when they talk about thousands of children dying per hour, they mean 3rd world countries (like the middle east) because america is too industrialized to have that many starving kids (even though we do have them). system is using this song to try to unite people, not bring them apart. so quit fighting over stupid stuff!! and see the video, its great. |

okay guys, yall are kind of dumb. this song isnt about love and friendship or jealousy or any of that feelings shit (even though it is emo). it was written by one member of the band for another member when he was struggling with heroin addiction (supposedly quinn and bert, but im not sure). it has to do a bit with friendship and trying to get a buddy sober but mostly it's about the heroin. so lets translate: Blue And Yellow (the color of the bruises when you shoot up heroin) it's all in how you mix the two (heroin has to be mixed with something before you can cook it and inject it) and it starts just where the light exists (once its mixed heroin is usually cooked in a spoon with a lighter) it's a feeling that you can not miss and it burns a hole through everyone that feels it (obviously, it feels great but its dangerous) you're never gonna find it if you're looking for it it won't come your way, yeah (heroin addicts and druggies in general are always looking for that first high, and once they have it they cant have it again unless they take more and more drugs) i should've done something, but i've done it enough by the way, your hands were shaking i'd rather waste some time with you (Quinn is telling him he should have gotten Bert to quit doing heroin, but he's done it enough himself, and he is tempted to do the drugs with him again to just let go and feel it again) well you never would've thought in the end how amazing it feels just to live again it's a feeling that you can not miss and it burns a hole through everyone that feels it (quinn is saying that being sober feels just as good as being high, like a natural high or something, and he's trying to get Bert clean) well you're never gonna find it if you're looking for it it won't come your way, yeah i should've done something, but i've done it enough by the way, your hands were shaking i'd rather waste some time with you i should've said something, but i've said it enough by the way, my words are fading i'd rather waste some time with you (he means he should have said more to bert about his drug problem but he feels like he's bitched at him enough about it. he also means that in case Bert didn't know ("by the way my words are faded") Quinn just wants to be with him and not let drugs get in the way. waste some time with you.. i should've done something, but i've done it enough by the way, your hands were shaking i'd rather waste my time with you i should've said something, but i've said it enough by the way, my words are fading i'd rather waste my time with you waste some time with you.. so yep. thats my interpretation. some of you guys have suggested different drugs than heroin, but i think it is heroin because i have had first hand experience with it. and the first time i heard this song i simply bawled because it reminded me of those awful times....it felt good in the moment but it was stupid and dangerous. im lucky i had great friends to help me sober up. so in a way this song is sort of about friendship. and just cuz bert says its about something doesnt mean it is. You know how bert is, he 's fucking crazy and he'll say anything. oh and the dude a few comments above who thinks bert is gay: he's not, he thinks kissing guys is fun mostly because of the reaction he gets from people. the more attention, the better. and he really loved Kate :( |
