VNV Nation – Chrome Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Okay, Waldemar, I hate to break it to you, but nobody gives a shit about what you think. Hitler failed. Another like him shall not come again. Not to mention--Ah, forget it. I guess you're far too stupid to realize race and color is far more determined by where you live than how intelligent and amazing and "worthy" you are. Some people just don't have the head for geography, natural selection, logic, etc... |

...Never mind, I think Waldemar is insane. |

I've read through every comment here, laughed at the idiots who think their interpretation is the only one (Said_corpse, that's mainly to you) and have to chime in with a variation nobody seems to have mentioned yet. This could be about Hitler. "Give me time I will be clear. Given time you'll understand What possesses me to right what you have suffered." could refer to the German people. "I'm in a mood for total war." Is self explanatory. "So many years I stood among the thoughts and tears of those I served. " Before he became a dictator, and was involved as a soldier in WWI. The rest of it is all very similar, but as most of VNV Nation's songs, also very vague, so it's open to liberal interpretation. I can't say someone telling me they're part dragon part dark angel impresses me, but I can say that being cruel to them is just as much an immature response. |

I think it is about suicide, too, but the narrator's loved one seems to be the one who took their life. "I walk among the stones again" makes me think of a graveyard, "in the place we said goodbye". And also the part where he states "the path I could not follow", IE - Death. |

Actually, Nailandteeth, I can sort of interpret Dark Angel as Adolf Hitler's struggle for power, too, but it's definitely not a band about white power - just whenever you hear a song about aggressive militaristic tactics with no pity or sympathy for anyone you automatically either think Nazi Germany or Bush America. |

For some reason this song reminds me of the Holocaust, or some equally desperate situation, like war, where Death is all around and bodies are treated like garbage. Contrawise, it could be a situation like homelessness. |
