I think Rumraisin's interpretation fits perfectly. I read what he said a while ago and I thought this discussion was resolved lol It seems to me Regina must have been comparing love with casual sex...but in a deep and clever way just in case anyone was thinking 'she would never be that crude' lol |

That idea about the Roald Dahl story might be true because I think she uses quite a lot of references in her songs from stories. When listening to the song I think the same as "Madnessmethod" but it also sounds like she's singing about sex especially on this verse...

Murder and sex in the same song makes a pretty interesting storyline I think lol

I think this song is about people trying to teach you things that you just aren't able to teach. Eg recently in school we got handed out parenting handbooks to give to our parents, which was basically this leaflet giving them advice on how to raise kids |

Everyone's ideas seem possible, especially ultimatesparanza's. I have a completely different idea but I'm not totally sure about it because it doesn't go in with some lines but I think it might be about wrong first impressions. How Samsn's hair was long when she first met him eg he seemed indestructible but then his hair was short eg he didn't seem so great anymore. The lines I'm not sure that it would go with are= "I loved you first" but then that could be saying she loved him first, which is ironic because now she's falling out of love with him; "And history books forgot about us and the bible didnt mention us. The bible didnt mention us, not even once" but that could possible be saying that what she used to feel for him is now forgotten; "You are my sweetest downfall" but that could be saying how although it hasn't ended up going so well it was good at the time; "Oh i cut his hair myself one night" but that could be saying that she provoked him changing and "and he kissed me till the morning light" but that could be saying even though she now didn't love him he still loved her. So yeah after reading other people's ideas I think mine's is unlikely but possible. I can't wait till the new version of Samson on Begin To Hope but at the same time I'm a bit disappointed that Regina used it again, because I know that this seems to be most people's favourite song of hers but they are all so amazing. |

I always thought this song was about a teenager who gets pregnant and how her boyfriend then left her. I especially got that from the "They were just two jerks playing with matches cause that's all they knew how to play" bit but the whole song made me think it. I think the "Just sitting here and trying to decipher what's written in Braille upon my skin..." bit is about her wondering if it was really worth it. |

I think the "they build buildings so tall these days" might be something about her falling off a builiding or commiting suicide by jumping off one. In fact before I used to think that the song was about a man who terrorised his wife, because of the she would beg for time bit, I thought it was saying she would beg for more time for him to keep her alive. And I thought the bit that goes "her conscience would issue yet another last warning, saying they build buildings so tall these days," was about him pushing her off a building. But after I've read the lyrics I realise I was probably wrong, ok definitely wrong lol |
