It is about wanting to expose the heart that lost but respecting someone else so it chooses to be a separate entity. It is about almost attaining someone, as if people can be attained, and nevertheless just wanting to be with someone. The chorus - the breakdown is the best in history possily.

I think it is pretyt straightforwad: forcing yourself to open your heart because though I belive in fate, etc. we are not victims of our surroundings, we have choices to make too... she is choosing to open her heart because love will not seep in if there is no allowance welcoming it.

Well, while this song was actually the firdt song I ever got stoned to, tht was by chance (and a chance I do not regert) even so, to me, this song is about surprising magical things, be those things drugs or an unexpected love. This song has love running through its veins, and it is a song of possibility.

This song could easily be about tripping but all I feel is love and all it brings with it. I think it highlights the ebb and flow of both the inner self and the outer reality. My personal take - is a love that is waded in other things - but you ever realize how the morning itself brings such clarity - even if scary? This song personally makes me thing of my love who I am leaving and knows it but still there is nothing more comforting in the morning than how close and cuddlied we are and how difficult it is to find people of this nature -- people who like to really hear things and listen to their dreams and listen to each other, who know how to listen to the silence as well.

To me this song is about the things we fill our lives up with whil we try to just pretend or make everything normal... pretty soon things aren't about where we choose to be but where we are in terms of love and sense of self. We lose our sense of sense of self - we write letters - or make memories but at an eventual point realize the things that are wrong with the world, other people, ourselves need to be addressed... nothing is simple but this song reminds you to listen to the things you'r gut tells you and not to be surprised but to be in touch with yourself.

Jeez, I can't believe more people haven't posted on this song... I can't believe after reading ideas for years I finally signed up. Providence, ahhh, such a beautiful song. To me, this song symbolizes a raw love - one in which you love the person but with terms that were never defined or remain uncertain, the kind of power with another person that you can ignore and/or be annoyed with and yet that force when together feels overhwheling and it is always a wonder that since this is the case that there is not more effort to make it come to some kind of "normal" fruition... this person gives you the silent shivers that you speak of with no one else because only the two of you understand and still understand there is some kind of dichotomy that keeps you separate - not alone but separate. When you have these feelings for a person and there is no closure between wither of you on either end there is always the question of why...and when there is unfinished business, as Ani puts so eloquently, there is always something more you want to question or say - frustrated, half-longing and always wanting just the beautiful kiss to make things feel ok for the self... but no matter what this song itself ends with longing and lack of answers.

I have no perception of this song as in pertaining to 9/11 - I think it references anyone or thing that tries to go back to correct something or overpower anything - it is a song of discovery and understanding the self as a part of the whole. There's no tomorrow is referencing the fact that all we know is today and to go with that even in the confusion of our past.

Anyone who isn't into Dylan will not feel this song, but anyone that is, or has been knows this song is about many things - loving and hating someone all at one, wanting to break free, or feeling free, knowing how interconnected we all are. There is so much passion in this song but not hatred or stupidity, just despising how much he alone loves the person and how that itself eats away at him because he can't even touch the books she's read.
