I'll chuck in my idea of this song,.. i might get slated by some but it's how i read it or maybe it's just because of how i feeling at the moment lol. This is originally a blues song yeah?? Do they ever sing happy songs a majority of the time? No,... So,... To me i feel the singer is being so sarcastic, you know when people ask if you're okay and you just reply "yeah i'm fine",.. but you're not. "its a new dawn, its a new day, its a new life" could be the first day after a relationship break up or even say a death of a loved one. "Sleep in peace when the day is done" sounds like they glad the day is over. "it's an old world, it's a new world, it's a bold world, for me" the word bold is taken in the context of the definition "very steep; having a prominent and almost vertical front" basically the world looks hard. "oh freedom is mine, and i know how i feel" all through the song the singer is saying "you know how i feel" and here at the end he says "I" know how i feel. and he's always relating to things in the world that don't answer back,... well,... thats what i think,.. thanks for reading!! fuck i'm pissed off! ;) |

| I was born in 69 and this was released in 70. well my father (RIP) told me all my life this is his song to me whenever it came on the radio/tv. being young you know what it's like you don't really take no notice. Then a year before he died (cancer) ihe said that it's YOUR SONG son from me and one day, i'll know when it's right, to dedicate it to someone else, pass it on so to say. Hi Rosetinted, If you take in the first verse of the song it's self explanatory (or this is my intertretation), There was a time I was everything and nothing all in one, This guy/gal is saying at one time he was/had everything (maybe material things), but to himself he felt he was nothing (feelings/relationship/love) When you found me I was feeling like a cloud across the sun When they met because of whatever he was missing was making him or his days dull (cloud across the sun/ cutting the light out) but he/she makes his days brighter. I get into this song as there is this special person, when we first met everybody looked up to (and tagged or used) me. I thought I had everything i ever wanted, i thought i could not be happier but when they came along POW! did my days seems so much brighter!! and all along i thought i was happy! lol |

All i remember at the minute, yes this song is about loosing all your troubles and stress by danving but,... CANNED HEAT is a Jazz/acid/funk magazine or program in the USA (i read somewhere on some Jamiroquai site) theats where the canned heat comes from but yes it's a HAPPY SONG!!! I've always told people there is one song that puts a smile on my face and i forget everything and this is that song!! at present i'm in the biggest turmoil of my life!! past 2 months i've seen no way out but this song is played non stop and it's got me through as i can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.
