| Mindless Self Indulgence – I Hate Jimmy Page Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
God...it's a joke, people. Led Zeppelin are obviously much better than MSI. But, of course, there probably was and will never be a band to match Zeppelin. All four members were unbelievably great musicians and every one of their songs are classics. I understand why people would like MSI. But I can't understand why people would like them over Zeppelin. It doesn't make sense. |

| Paris Hilton – Nothing in This World Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Talk about a crappy video. First off, the creepiness factor of the boy, mostly in looks, is striking, as is the facless, un-inspired lyrics and singing. Basically, the message of the video is: Slack off and just dream all day, cause there's about a 1 in 15 million chance it'll come true!! |

I have some other analogies... AHEM... Rappers talk about boo-tay and pimpage, right? Therefore, all rappers are dirty scumbags who make a living out of deprivating women of their pride! |

| Just because it's not "complex" doesn't mean it sucks. I mean, fuck, they're not trying to be Rush here. | |

Funny how you would know that. Remember, the first step to curing yourself is acceptance. |
|
| Foo Fighters – Come Back Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
The song starts off with the protagonist leaving his girlfriend/spouse. The relationship ended inconspicuously quickly. The man feels that the relationship wasn't given it's due, or chance, and vows that he will come back. Very amazing song, especially at the ending. The song stops, then builds up into a soaring conclusion, perhaps making the notion that the man DID come back, as he said he would, for better or for worse. |

"Dazed AND Confused" of course. Sorry, typo. |

| Soundgarden – New Damage Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Is it just me, or does the music sound like a heavier version of Zeppelin's "Dazed abd Confused"? Well, anyways, great song. |
|
| Soundgarden – Holy Water Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Wow, nice analysis. Yeah, I think it's about religion now. I love this song. It has a funky vibe to it. One of the gems on an album full of gems, the perfect Badmotorfinger. | |
| The Killers – When You Were Young Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I love this song, it's better than any Killers song before it, although I have yet to listen to "Bones". Their performance single-handedly saved the VMAs from being a complete disaster. The ending to this song is breathtaking. On a funny note, I always assumed this band was British until some guy told me they were from Vegas. Brandon Flowers has a British accent when he sings, or at least it sounds like he does. |
|
| Soundgarden – Somewhere Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Wally the Walrus, it may be the worst song on Badmotorfinger, but since every song on Badmotorfinger is an instant classic, that's not really a bad thing, is it? I think it is about mourning over a dead lover. "I'll search for the sky/ That she wanders by". He can't get over the loss of his loved one. |
|
| Soundgarden – Slaves & Bulldozers Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Jesus Christ, is Cornell human? How do you hit those notes? God, I wish I was born with talent... Yes, it is very underrated, ktrice1. I agree now that it's about a one-sided relationship. One side is the "slave" to the other person, and the other is the "bulldozer" walking all over said person. Kamon, I kind of see what you're saying about the similarities between this and "Electric Funeral". Nice ear. |

| My Chemical Romance – I'm Not Okay (I Promise) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Well...MCR aren't that bad...well, I only like two of their songs, "Helena" and "Vampires Will Never Hurt You". Granted, I didn't hear much of their other stuff...well, I heard this song. But they are not as horrible as people put them out to be. | |

| Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
You narrow-minded assholes... I'm sick of people typing on here: "OMG Green Day suck, they're so mainstream". Okay, so if your mainstream, you suck. I get it! Hey, that means the Beatles sucked, Led Zeppelin sucked, and Metallica sucked! It's a stretch comparing Green Day to those bands, but all three of those bands were fabricated into the minds of the mainstream. I've heard the argument that Green Day are sorry musicians. Have they ever pretended to be great musicians? No. The point is, they do the best that they can with whatever they have, and compose memorable songs. No, I'm not emo. No, I do not cut myself. Yes, I like Green Day, and many other bands also. |

| Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Susan, basically, what you're saying is that speaking out politically is wrong. Why? Tell me, during Clinton's reign, there wasn't much to talk about. The standard issues WERE talked about- abortion, consumerism, etc. I'm not saying that Clinton was perfect, but his reign was a great time of peace and prosperity for the U.S. Ever since Bush took over, everything went wrong. You really can't blame 9/11 on him, but he has made some very questionable decisions. Since Bush took over, Pearl Jam has released two albums- Riot Act and Pearl Jam. Riot Act had the Bush-bashers (Bu$hleaguer, 1/2 Full) as does Pearl Jam (World Wide Suicide, Marker in the Sand). To say that Pearl Jam started writing these songs for the sake of selling records would be false- just look at Riot Act, perhaps their least accessible album, which bombed on the charts. Their new album sold much better, due to the great singles (WWS, Life Wasted) which endured prolonged chart life. The reason why this is regarded as better than RA is because it's more accessible- WWS, Life Wasted, and Severed Hand all have memorable hooks. |

Okay, I enjoy Green Day. I know everyone hates them for "selling out" (Which I don't give a shit about; I judge bands based on their music, not fame) and getting all political. They do have a knack for conjuring up some memorable songs, this being one of them. While I enjoy their older stuff better because it seems like they were having more fun, bands CHANGE. Check out my favorite band, Pearl Jam, as example. Over their first three albums, they were the most famous band in the world. Then came their fourth album No Code, and it changed everything. It had weird flourishes and Eastern-tinged songs. People forgot about PJ, despite the fact that they were releasing album after album. Their new album is garnering heavy radioplay and critical acclaim, and now PJ is going to be on VH1 Storytellers, but they haven't lost a beat. They went from the most famous band in America to the most famous cult band in America. Even though Green Day is getting more and more famous, their music has matured. Remember Dookie, how carefree the band seemed. They only seemed to care about having a good time and smoking pot. Now, (starting with their more poppy album, Warning) their music has changed. Boulevard of Broken Dreams, for instance. It has an arena rock feel and a guitar solo. Their old songs were just over 3 minutes long with no solos. They grew more musically and lyrically. They delve into politics lane. While I do think they are somewhat immature in how they state their beliefs, there's no denying their passion. Bands CHANGE. If not, there would be no musical variety. |

| Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Well, I like Nirvana, but they're no Pearl Jam. Although they did start the grunge movement, put it into the mainstream, they only released two albums, which, while great, is not enough to claim the top spot. I am surprised that they put Soundgarden as number 1 alternative band. Also, did anyone hear about PJ playing for VH1 Storytellers? Wow, it's on July 1, and I can't wait. Finally, people are recognizing good music. |

| Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
And I still don't understand the whole song title thing. I mean, PJ writes titles like "Go", "Once", "Animal". You know, rolls off the tongue, easy to remember. Yet FOB and many other emo bands will have a song title like this: "Oh my God, I just watched an MTV commercial and saw an advertisement for Fall Out Boy and realized that I had to go buy the album but I was broke so I slept with a member of Fall Out Boy and all I got was this stupid t-shirt" And yet, the song will be nothing about that. It's like, "Hey Mike, did you hear of that new FOB song "Oh my God, I just watched an MTV commercial and saw an advertisement for Fall Out Boy and realized that I had to go buy the album but I was broke so I slept with a member of Fall Out Boy and all I got was this stupid t-shirt"? "Of course I did. What a great song!" God, I hate emo music. |

| AC/DC – Sin City Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Okay, how come there are fucking 800 people posting for a shit band like Fall Out Boy, yet there are only 3 fucking posts for Sin City, an AC/DC classic. AC/DC are the fucking GODS OF METAL, and nobody posts for them? Oh my God, what has music come to? Listen, this song is awesome, along with basically any AC/DC song. Also, go to Fall Out Boy's Sugar We're Going Down page, go to the last or second to last comment page, and read the comment I posted about Fall Out Boy. It's priceless!! | |
| Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
No, they just add to the world's suckiness, and over 800 people have commented, I think the meaning about the song has been stated more than once, you know. Also, this site is really a big discussion about the songs, otherwise people would be continuously repaeting what others said. So, in turn, I have something very integral to say about the meaning of this song: Who gives a shit? It sucks! There. I contributed to the meaning of the song. If you want to do the same as me, just go to a Pearl Jam song and make mean comments about it. Just be waiting for others to defend that song, especially me, because I think PJ are the best band in the world. Really, that's the same that is happening here, except that FOB suck and PJ actually have musical talent. |
|
| Pearl Jam – Alive Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is like the Stairway to Heaven in the nineties. Really, the structure is sort of the same. The song is continuously building up into that mezmorizing solo. And the part after the second chorus, where Vedder starts it off by "Is something wrong she said?...." reminds me of the part between verses on Stairway, where Plant sings "And it makes me wonder...". Seeing this live is great, McCready plays a different solo each time, and No Code's comment explains exactly how I feel about this song. | |
| Pearl Jam – Rats Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| SpookiePony nailed this one on the head. The first verse is why we are better than rats, and the second verse is vice versa, how rats are in turn better than us. The chorus is sort of both, though, because rats do all of those things besides comparing themselves to others. That is probably the gist of what Vedder is saying. That our fault is that we compare ourselves to others instead of trying to become a community and being happy and free. | |
| Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think Soundgarden come close.....if only they were still together, though Audioslave is pretty good. | |
| Fall Out Boy – Dance, Dance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Actually, the Pearl part was named after Eddie's grandmother and the Jam part was taken when the members of PJ went to a Neil Young concert and he played like 9 songs in 3 hours, just jamming away. True story. Taken from the new issue of Rolling Stone, which has Eddie Vedder on the cover. | |

And how come all emos type like retards, like OMG! FOB IZ DA SHIZNIT!!EMOS RULE IF YOU DONT THINK SO THEN YOU SUCK WELL UH I LIKE FOB AND THEYRE AWESOME WOO God, between the list and the typing errors, I don't know where to stop laughing. |

| Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Also, what's up with the impossibly large song titles? How come every frickin emo band has large song titles? That has to be the stupidest trend since, well, ever. | |
| Coheed and Cambria – The Suffering Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Ehhhh......now, I just heard this song on the radio. I have no clue what you guys are talking about (Evidentely there is a comic or story behind the songs), but anyways, my friend hated it and I sort of liked it. The singer's voice is a bit annoying, but it's pretty well done. I've never heard of this band before, and I don't know if I'll like them. I listen to Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, stuff like that, so if you could give me some good Coheed songs to start off with, that would be great. | |
| Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Wahwah, Pearl Jam are much better than FOB. They actually have talent! PJ are not oldies, check out the newly released "World Wide Suicide" or "Life Wasted" for proof of that, and are definitely not forgotten, you could check out the new issue of Rolling Stone and see Eddie Vedder on the cover. PJ's music is timeless. You might be thinking of their early Ten stuff, but they're more than that. Check out "Corduroy" (Quite possibly the greatest song ever recorded) or "Rearviewmirror" (The ending will leave you breathless). And their songs are so different from one another, like what richie8092 said in a different post, name one other band that could have such a loud, heavy song such as "Blood" or such a quiet, subdued song like "Thumbing My Way". I saw the dingo's post on the homepage of songmeanings, and I couldn't agree with him more. Eddie Vedder is such a better singer than FOB's faceless one (Fucking Pete Wentz, the BASSIST, is the leader of the band). FOB are just a trend that took advantage of the mainstream emo shit that is polluting our radios as we speak. Maybe if they differentiated their sound a little bit, like adding an actual GUITAR SOLO (Oh, no, the world is ending!!) I would give them respect, but until then, which FOB will never do, because they are sell-outs (Pete Wentz was one of the reporters for the MTV Movie Awards pre-show, if that doesn't tell you how lame FOB is), they are just another horrible emo band. P.S. How could I be JEALOUS of emos? Hah, I frickin laugh at them in the streets!! |
|
| Nirvana – Drain You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Hey guys, now, don't get me wrong, I love Nirvana, and this is probably their most overlooked song, they stole the middle of the song, where Kurt repeatedly says you and you could hear the guitar feedback, from Zeppelin's "How Many More Times". If you listen, at some point in the song, the guitar feedback sounds the same, except Robert Plant isn't saying you over and over. Now, I have no problem with that, since Zep is awesome and it shows what Kurt's influencers were. Maybe it was a mistake. There are so many songs out there that one is bound to sound like another. | |
| Cheyenne Kimball – Hanging On Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Hey, I guess anyone could release a hit single if they get an MTV show. Okay, she's not that bad, but that Ashley Parker Angel is horrible. This is probably going to become a big hit because of the show, but if she didn't have her own show, nobody would have even heard this song. Speaking of, what happened to MTV? God, frickin Laguna Beach, The Hills, this show, man MTV is not what it used to be. Rock used to dominate MTV, but not anymore. Now it's just rap/hip-hop. I prefer VH1. | |
| Pearl Jam – World Wide Suicide Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yeah, but both bands deliver great quality. Pearl Jam ARE better than RHCP, though RHCP are great. Anyways, I would feel cheated if a band left that early. If you go to a PJ show, it'll be one of the best experiences in your life. I went to the Connecticut show, and it was awesome. | |
| Pearl Jam – 1/2 Full Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Dude, while I do think that Green Day sold-out, who gives a shit? What's wrong with being famous? The only way not to sell out is to make a record under a crap label and hope nobody hears it. It's bullshit! In that case, SOAD are sell-outs, too. I like Green Day, and I am not gay. I also like SOAD, and Metallica, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains. Don't go off thinking that you know what every Green Day fan is like, you asshole. P.S. I did read Catcher in the Rye, moron. What, you were supposed to throw us offguard with the whole teenage angst thing? And SOAD are just as mainstream. |
