I think it's "riding on a pair of sixes in this heavy handed metaphor", because a pair of sixes isn't a very good poker hand, especially in a "heavy handed" metaphor. |

Rather than "katie did" it might be "katydid" which is a kind of grasshopper. Just a thought since they don't really say anything about this Katie person and they seem to like animals. |
