I just wanted to say something to woyloyboog & LNikky: I'm not trying to start anything, but most musicians (professional or amateur) will tell you that music is meant to relate to EVERYONE. To one person this song may be about a girl, which is certainly a reasonable way to interpret the song. I can also see how someone would see this song as being about God. I actually believe that there is a little of both in the song. If you re-read through the lyrics, I'm pretty sure you will find some things that would suggest it could be about a relationship with God as well. Part of what makes any music so great is the fact that it can be interpreted so many different ways by so many different people. Just because you don't see a song or lyrics meaning something doesn't mean that someone who does is wrong. Read the chorus. I think that if you really focus on that you can see my point. |

I'm not sure what Mike Shinoda defines as 'petty name calling'... but I know that he is definitely participating in it. The guy has talent at writing lyrics, but most of the time I find that he contradicts himself in them and he tends to just stray off his point a little bit in order to come up with a clever rhyme that may not make as much sense. And there is nothing really creative about the two puns he uses with the 'struggling doctor' and 'high school dropout', they are both really old and overused. I don't have a problem with Mike at all, I actually like this song, but the lyrics aren't THAT great. And I also don't like how he has to throw in random cursing just for the sake of it... that's just a sign of being immature. |

I'm not saying that you are wrong, because I am a firm believer that music is a universal language that speaks to everyone on different levels... i.e. the way you interpret it is different than the way I do, but neither of us are wrong. This song has some of the most beautiful music in it... the chorus that Brook Kelly sings is awesome, and the piano is amazing. The lyrics are pretty well written, it could do without the cussing though... I've never really been a believer that there has to be cussing in rap, especially just for the sake of cussing. Other than that, the only thing that bothers me is Mike's delivery of some of the lines. They seem to be a little forced and almost sound awkward. If he would have spent a bit more time working on the delivery and lyrics I think that this song would be PERFECT. |

Um... Actually, MANY artists write their songs to relate to the listener. That means that it is all about what the listener interprets when he hears a song. Just because his opinion differs from yours doesn't mean that he is wrong. "This song could easily" (LOL... John Reuben quote) be about how a relationship (possibly with a girl) is not going the way that it should be. It isn't that hard to come up with multiple meanings for these lyrics. Don't be so narrow-minded to think that your opinion is the ONLY one that is right. I'm not saying that yours is, because I agree with your interpretation as well as 360degrees. |

Dang guys... why don't you just rip apart what this person says. Chill out! Maybe to them this song is about a girl. That is what is GREAT about music: everyeone can interpret their own meaning. I can see the case being made that this is about a girl. I can also see the case for your arguments too. After all, this is about what the song means to each individual person. |
