Prince – Starfish and Coffee Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is just saying to be yourself, don't worry about what other people say. Cynthia does her own thing, but is happy. Maybe Prince is saying that she's got things right in the last bit when he says "Go on Cynthia."

Blink-182 – Not Now Lyrics 18 years ago
Part of me thinks that this song is two people battling each other. The 1st and 3rd versus are the person who is dying, asking to be permitted to rest. With verses 2, 4, and 5 being the person with the dying person. Asking for them to hold on, and to wait, then later accepting their death.

"Please stay until I'm gone
I'm here hold on to me I'm right here
Waiting"

that verse to me seems like, "Please stay until I die also, I'll protect you, hold on."

"...and take
My one last breath, and don't forget
That I will be right here
Waiting"

I think these lines are the person who is going to live offering up their life to keep the other alive, specifically 'so take my one last breath.' But again, they realize they can't do that, so they will be waiting for their chance to reunite.

What is being said in the last minute while he goes on the little rant? He talks about being confused because at night grocery stores turn off their lights. But that's about all I can make out.

Modest Mouse – Little Motel Lyrics 18 years ago
I actually see this song being a break up. It starts out hopeful, then in verse 3 turns into the fight. Finally in verse 4 the lovers share one final moment together, watching the stars, before they go their separate ways.

Great song, good for a laugh. Spelling of proper nouns is important, 'Ichat' should be 'iChat'

Modest Mouse – Missed the Boat Lyrics 19 years ago
I greatly agree with gravityridesit on the meaning. 'Missing the boat' to me is that the boat is life, and to miss it is when you realize that you've wasted it being what society tells you to be.

The opening verse to me seems like looking back on an old relationship. The talk of the subject and wanting to change it sounds like he keeps reliving the break-up. 'I was knocking on your ears | Don't worry your were always out' - Whenever he tried to work things out with her she didn't want to listen to him and try to work it out. 'Looking towards the future | We were begging for the past' - She kept looking towards the future as separate entities but he wanted to look back to the past when they were going through their good times. 'Well we knew we had the good things | But those never seem to last | Oh please just last' - To me this is his final realization that they are done, but no matter how hard he is trying to accept it, he just can't let her go.

The wake verse I completely agree with gravity, 'We didn't read the invite' - We didn't check with ourselves to make sure that we were doing the right things and going in the right direction, 'We just dance at our own wake' - We are finally living our lives, even though its too late. 'All our favorites were playing' - We finally settled on what we want out of life. 'So we could shake, shake, shake, shake, shake' - Since we know what we want out of life, even though its time has past, we are trying to fulfill it.

I think Issac has a lot of deep seeded emotion in this song, but they used the upbeat sound to mask the lyrics though. The lyrics just seem to scream, 'Let me get out of/over this!' Whatever 'this' is, is completely your interpretation, but I assume girlfriend because of 'Little Motel.'

"where on that page does it say isaac brock has been sober?"

In a user posted article. I saw them live back in November up in NY (800mi round trip just to see em') and the entire time Issac had a drink in a clear cup in his hand of a light beige color, with a little foam on top. So unless he was drinking O'dules or non-alcoholic Coors, he was still drinking in November.

You get away from me. You get away from me.
Collected my belongings and I left the jail.

I think this might play to the rumored theme of 'Paper Thin Walls', Issac being accused of rape. During the time that he would have been held until bail hearings. But I still havn't found anything to support the claims that he was ever charged with rape.

Modest Mouse – The World at Large Lyrics 19 years ago
I think that Issac's talk about the book about drifters is another reference back to Charles Bukowski, who writes about a character Henry Chinaski who wanders from city to city living his life day by day. Overall, I think this song is his rationalization to the life as a touring musician, constantly being up-rooted to goto a new city every couple days.

The Postal Service – We Will Become Silhouettes Lyrics 19 years ago
I heard this song shortly after Hurricane Katrina, it fits perfectly. About how they cant leave the house (because of the water levels), they are eating out of cubboards (because there is no where to get food), walk the empty streets (no one is on the streets since its flooded), the air being bad (because of the bacteria from the water)
