| Alexisonfire – Control Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I agree that this song is definitely about how you have to be yourself to be happy. But it always reminded me, specifically, of being "in the closet," so to speak. If you've ever been in the closet, you know it's kind of a burden to carry that with you and keep it a secret and lie to yourself and everyone else and try to cover it up... It can really weigh down on you. And this song is saying, come out, it's okay to be yourself, you'll be happier if you accept yourself. I don't know if that's necessarily what the song was written about... but that's what it's always made me think of. |

| AFI – Too Late for Gods Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I always thought it had something to do with martyrs ("Go down in glory"), or people who think themselves martyrs but in fact do terrible things. I agree with the war idea, or maybe terrorism, or religious fanatics, etc. Or maybe, just going along with the general theme of Crash Love, it could be about a celebrity or something and his or her fall from grace by destructive behavior. Davey himself mentioned that this song has to do with "corporal deities." (http://afi.buzznet.com/user/video/4458641/buzznet-exclusive-afi-transmission-sacrilege/?p=1) |

| Blaqk Audio – Mute Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is my favorite Blaqk Audio song. It reminds me of being used, like when you know you're being used, and the other person knows you know it, but neither of you will admit it. The person being used could easily end the whole mess, but doesn't because he or she may have feelings for the other person. In the bridge, it's kind of like the person is angry at being used, but continues to be there for the other person. |

| Green Day – 21 Guns Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I know this song was probably intended to be about war and such, but it just reminds me of life in general, and wanting to give up on it. | |
| Blaqk Audio – Between Breaths Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think you're right. Also, I saw this interview the other day where Davey was talking about an unreleased song he wrote called "Breath Play". I've never seen the lyrics, but it made me think of this song. Anyway, here's the video where he talks about it. http://afi.buzznet.com/user/video/4412901/buzznet-exclusive-afi-transmission-end/ |

| Saosin – You're Not Alone Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song reminds me of people who just obsess over love and think it's everything. If any of you have friends like that, you'll know what I'm talking about. The guy in the first verse is moping around and stuff; maybe his girlfriend broke up with him or something. The girl in the second verse is "confused by the lies she's been fed" about love, believing that it's everything. The chorus is kind of saying that everyone feels bad about love sometimes, but there's no reason to kill yourself over it. There are more important things in life. | |
| AFI – Fainting Spells Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this song might be about hating yourself and stuff - you know, like you just want to drain all of the blood from your body. Some people in the Despair Faction have also pointed out references to bloodletting - which induces fainting. | |
| AFI – End Transmission Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"I confessed to you, 'I saw a body.' You said you'd seen a few." This was referenced in the Decemberunderground notes - "...Maybe we'll see a body. Maybe we'll see a few. I shook. Did you?" |

| AFI – Medicate Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This makes me really excited for Crash Love. But I think this is the first time I could actually understand what Davey was singing in an AFI song. I'll miss all those misheard AFI lyrics =P | |
| Taylor Swift – Teardrops on My Guitar Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I relate to this song so perfectly, it's like whoever wrote it was reading my mind. The guy's name is Drew and everything, and I look at his picture every night... I can't believe this song. | |
| AFI – Silver And Cold Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think "Cold in life's throes" would make more sense than "Cold in life's throws." I don't have the CD booklet with the lyrics, but I guess it said "throws" because all the websites say it does. Still, I keep hoping they spelled it wrong, because "throes" goes along with the line "I'll fall asleep for you", don't you agree? | |
| AFI – Decemberunderground Notes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think each one is related to the song that comes after it. | |
| Dissection – Night's Blood Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I first took the words literally; I thought it was actually about the beauty in the cold and lonliness of an autumn night. But if not, maybe it's about the dark delight of listening to a black metal song like this? | |
| AFI – Bleed Black Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Even if Sing the Sorrow does tell a story, I think that each song has an alternative meaning. But it's up to the listener to decide what it is. "Bleed Black" makes me think of someone that is destroying his social life. "I am exploring the inside, I find it desolate" means that he's lonely even when he's with people. His "confines" are the people around him, "recreating" him, making him more depressed by not paying attention to him. He's begging, or imploring, them to pay attention. "I'm hovering throughout time, I crumble in these days. I crumble, I cannot find reflection in these days" means that he doesn't exist to these people. In the second verse, he's "destroyed by the inside", the inside meaning his feelings of lonliness. The outside would be his social ties, and he destroys them. The "I know what died" part would mean all of his relationships are gone. "If you listen) Listen, listen (Listen close) Beat by beat (You can hear when the heart stops)" means that the people he cut himself off from don't really notice or care. "I saved the pieces (When it broke) And ground them all to dust" states again that he destroyed his social ties. Anyway, that's just how I looked at the song. |

| Cradle of Filth – Swansong for a Raven Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| What's a lycanthrope? It wasn't in the dictionary when I looked it up. | |
| Cradle of Filth – Saffron's Curse Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Between "femalediction" and "I splintered her coffin", I found "Wind amidst the flame I gazed out Tapped into the fog and shared her pain When in her mind she sought his leave And begged forgiveness." It was on Darklyrics.com. |

| Marilyn Manson – The Nobodies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is about Columbine. And I hate that Manson was blamed for that. At my school we're not even allowed to wear Marilyn Manson shirts. | |
| AFI – The Missing Frame Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think this song is about becoming depressed, but nobody seems to notice or care. ("I can see that I lose the joys of life...One at a time I watched them all forget...It's the place that I forget my life...") This song is amazing; I know exactly what he's talking about. | |
| Cradle of Filth – Medusa and Hemlock Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
When I first heard it, I thought it was about death. The dark side of the moon could represent death, and someone being drawn to it. Since the sun sets in the west, I thought the western gate could represent the end of something. And to breathe, enamoured of the conquering dark would mean to wish for death. But COBHATEBREEDER's idea seems better. |
