| The Moody Blues – The Story In Your Eyes Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
Maybe it's clichéd, but I think it's about the uncertain future of a struggling relationship. The "story in her eyes" is, from the lyricist's perspective, their relationship reflected back at him. The verse is an admittance that they are both in love with each other, despite the problems they've been through. And his admittance that he took her for granted, that he didn't realize what the relationship meant to him, or how much he loved her. The first half of the chorus is his optimism about the possibilities of the relationship. He wants her to put the past behind them, accept the failure of the prior relationship. But he wants it to begin anew, rising from the ashes, making something new, greater than what came before. The second half of the chorus is his pessimism. He's afraid that maybe he's wasting his time, that the relationship is doomed to fail, that the good times they're hoping for will only be more bad times, more failure. The final section, in the chorus's last reprise, he accepts that whatever happens, when their relationship finally ends, he can always retreat to the memory of that relationship, and the warmth of knowing that, failed relationship or not, she still loves him. It's a very romantic song, saccharine sweet almost, but it gives me a serious case of the waterworks. |

| Frank Zappa – Motherly Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I think the best part about this song is when he goes into the chorus after the second verse, the way he says "...get it now", as if he's like HA HA CHECK OUT MY EUPHEMISM I love Frank Zappa. |

| Blue Öyster Cult – After Dark Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| As cheesy as these lyrics are, the song is really fun to listen to. Great song. | |
| Del tha Funkee Homosapien – If Ya Must Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
amazing song. I first heard it in THPS3 too. |

| Strapping Young Lad – Shitstorm Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
@kid-44 You're completely wrong. As the son of someone who committed suicide because he was bipolar (among other reasons), you're just wrong. One of the standard symptoms of bipolar disorder is the fact that they will completely blow up at seemingly minor things. Anyway, ProgPirate is right, he stopped taking his medication for the duration of the writing for Alien, and this was the result. Shitstorm is probably my favorite song on the album because it feels like just an outlet of rage on everything you have to deal with in life. Totally amazing. |

Amazing song. How could this not be commented on yet? The vocal melody parts have the most amazing harmony I've heard in any song, ever. |

| Ayreon – Day Sixteen: Loser Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Such a great song... when Devin Townsend (Rage) awakens, I practically get goosebumps... you can feel the rage. The two vocalists, Devin Townsend and Mike Baker, have great chemistry together, to be honest... I would love to hear an album with them both on vocals. | |
| Circus Maximus – Glory of the Empire Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The basic idea of the song is rather clear, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be based off the story of Spartacus, or perhaps the movie Gladiator... either way, it's absolutely excellent. Love the song. | |
| Devin Townsend – Slow Me Down Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song has an oddly poppy feel to it... but it's Devin Townsend alright. I love this song, one of my favorites by him. Just awesome. And I can sing it, too. |
|
| Iron Maiden – Look For The Truth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Great song. One of the best of the Blaze-era. Although, to be honest, I am probably one of the biggest Blaze-era Maiden fans. I like a good 50% of the songs they made during the period... and what I do like, I like as much or sometimes more than a lot of other Maiden albums. |

| The Who – Smash The Mirror Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's Tommy's mother that smashes the mirror in the movie. | |
| The Who – Pinball Wizard Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| To clear up the little lyric issue goin' there... the line "n' never tilts at all" was from the movie version; I watched the movie a couple days ago so I can confirm this. In the album version, it actually is "I've never seen him fall". | |
| Hilary Duff – My Generation (The Who cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Worst. Cover. Ever. A great song by The Who, bastardized by a stupid pop star. Why did she have to do something like this? Ugh. |
|
| Iron Maiden – Iron Maiden Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is an explanation of the band's name, explaining how the band compares to an iron maiden, the torture tool. Love the song, and as well as Bruce sings it, he can't touch Paul on this one. |

| Dream Theater – Only a Matter of Time Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Also, this song really shows off Dream Theater's lyrical prowess. The lyrics are absolutely excellent and sound great and yet are still deeply powerful. Only a Matter of Time is, lyrically, probably one of Dream Theater's best. And this segment of the song happens to be one of the most poetic segments of music I have ever heard: "A father's benediction as his hopeful son departs to brave the sea of rage and conquer at all costs lingers in his memory and visions still surviving in a logic-proof shell that should have been held sacred, safe and hidden well are compromised in usury with every rising sun that yields no sight of land the hesitation cultivates within the tired man and rumors spread of mutiny and though the time will come when dream and day unite tonight the only consolation causing him to fight is fearless faith in destiny" |

| Dream Theater – Raise the Knife Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Nameo and toky_world are actually both correct. According to Setlist Scotty from the DT.net forums (who would know), the first half is about a crew member let go because of the management issues and what not, while the second half is about Kevin Moore. | |
| Dream Theater – Only a Matter of Time Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song only sounds good with Charlie Dominici. As much as I love James LaBrie, this song was made for Charlie. | |
| Kansas – Miracles Out Of Nowhere Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| One of the most uplifting songs ever written. Kansas totally rules. | |
| Kansas – Magnum Opus Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| How does this song have no comments? It's famous... or infamous, depending on which side you're on. Personally, I think this is one of their very best songs. Not sure on the lyrics though. Not a lot of them for a 8 1/2 minute song... | |
| OSI – Hello, Helicopter! Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Love the song. Almost poppish. | |
| Dream Theater – Burning My Soul Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love the opening baseline, it just has the funkiest beat. Totally underrated, both the song and the album. | |
| Dream Theater – You Not Me Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Ugh. Worst Dream Theater song to date. The original version, You or Me, wasn't really all that great either if you ask me, but this song is just sickening. And I love the album, too... | |
| Iron Maiden – The Unbeliever Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Underrated song of the century. I don't get the Blaze hatred. This song alone is proof that he is worthy of Iron Maiden. | |
| OSI – Sure You Will Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Funky groove. I love it. | |
| OSI – Go Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love this song. It's so... Kevin Moore. The meaning is kinda confusing though. | |
| OSI – Go Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love this song. It's so... Kevin Moore. The meaning is kinda confusing though. | |
| Dream Theater – Scarred Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I love this song. It's just beautiful. One of the most underrated songs of all time. | |
| Dream Theater – Space-Dye Vest Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is a Kevin Moore song through and through. It's a brilliant song, and I love hearing it every time, but it would have fit better with Chroma Key, his current project. I would kill to hear it live... | |
| Dream Theater – The Mirror Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Mike Portnoy has said that it is about his addiction to alcohol, along with the AA series (which currently includes The Glass Prison, This Dying Soul, and The Root of all Evil). However, while it contains some musical ties with Lie (mainly the fact that it bleeds into it and the main riff was originally meant to be part of The Mirror), it contains no connection with Lie as far as lyrics are concerned. |
|
| Dream Theater – Just Let Me Breathe Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I always found this song kind of ironic, considering that this album, Falling Into Infinity (where this song was on), was basically the album where their record company was trying to push them into mainstream. I mean, for god's sake, You Not Me was originally You Or Me. Kind of odd, hm? |
|
| Shadow Gallery – War for Sale Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I can't believe I'm the first commenter for any of these songs... Shadow Gallery rules. The meaning for this song is obvious; a man who worked for the military realizes what they are doing, and discovers the corruption in the government. In this song, he portrays his regret about it. It's part of Tyranny, which is a concept album. The general themes of most of the songs seem to point to the fact that the album might be based off of the graphic novel V for Vendetta (also consider that the band name came from it, and the name for the song/album Room V which is a sequel to Tyranny). |
