| I feel somewhat ignorant, I had never heard of the Armenian genocide before I heard this song...I never hear of any genocide. I like this song a lot too, and i'm glad it has opened my eyes to this. I've never felt the pain of any genocide, I can only try to understand it and help those who have felt it. Thank you System, and thank you to the people who posted more information of this. I've started doing research on genocide as well. Not just the Armenian genocide, but any genocide. It should never have to happen to anyone. | |

Okay well I havent read every comment on here, so I know mine will probably be like other posts but this song reflects my exact beliefs about church. I'm not anti-christian, I just think churches use jesus and God for power. I've been to a church with my friend, and sat in on the service and the sunday school...so i've seen what it's like. I also used to be christian. So i'm not just ranting haha. So onto the actual interpretation I had an out of body experience, the other day, her name was jesus And for her everyone cried, everyone cried, everyone cried. To me this is making fun of people who claim to see Jesus. They make more of it than what it really was. Try her philosophy, Try her philosophy, Try her philosophy, try. Telling them to try before you buy, like a car salesman or something. A pastor once did this to my dad. Became friends with him, and convinced him to convert. You die for her philosophy, Die for her philosophy, Die her philosphy die. I think this is talking about after they've converted the people, they get more demanding, to the point of self-sacrifice. Another part of the story with my dad is that after he converted, the pastor got more demanding for those things. However, he also stopped talking to my dad at all, after he converted him. (My dad is atheist again lol) Crossed and terrored ravages of architecture, lend me thy blades, We’re crossed and terrored ravages of architecture, hoist around the spade. This is my favorite verse out of this whole song. I go to a school that is not an official christian school, but is filled with them, and people try to convert me all the time. To me the "Crossed and terrored ravages of architecture" refers to the atheists (or anyone who doesnt believe what christians do). It seems like "crossed" is saying mix-up or confused without the lord. "Terrored" seems like they are saying they're afraid to convert, or they are troubled because they dont have the lord with them. "Ravages" is basically calling them sinners. I looked up "architecture" for an exact meaning and found "the action or process of building; construction." which could mean the non-believers must be built up to be good people (in their opinion we arent good people). This is the same crap i've gone through at school with people trying to convert me, by telling me i'm a horrible person and going to hell. lie naked on the floor And let the messiah go through our souls, Just telling them to accept christ into your heart and soul Die, like a mother fucker I think mother fucker refers to either a true devoted christian, or jesus. A "true" christian would die for jesus or something. And then jesus supposedly died for our sins, and they want us to die for jesus. I want to fuck my way to the garden, Cause everyone needs a mother, fucker! I think thats sarcasm referring to the Garden of Eden. I believe it is a sin to have sex for pleasure, and not children. So he's saying he wants to "fuck" to Eden. The "everyone needs a mother fucker" is saying everyone needs christ. The following of a christ Basically sums up christianity...following christ. The falling of christ I think is referring to when he died on the cross for our sins So yeah, that song means a lot to me. My favorite SOAD song. Plus the drums in it are awesome!! |

This may be reaching for a meaning, but I related this to drugs. It's kinda weird but I was trying to find a 'different' meaning to it (sorry if someone said the drugs thing before but its too many comments to read) Life is a waterfall, We're one in the river, And one again after the fall.-Drugs are addictive, and when you're "one in the river" you test them and when you're "one again after the fall" you've become addicted Swimming through the void We hear the word,-We are being told we have a problem We lose ourselves, But we find it all?-We lose our minds, and lose attention to reality, but we feel so good we "find it all" Cause we are the ones that want to play, Always want to go, But you never want to stay,-We want the high of drugs without it destroying our lives? And we are the ones that want to choose, Always want to play, But you never want to lose.-Again, we choose to use drugs for the high, but we dont want it to destroy us (as you can tell I'm not exactly sure about those two verses, but its my guess) Aerials, in the sky,-I guess maybe they feel like an aerial acrobat from the high? When you lose small mind,-You lose your mind (i guess small mind if you were dumb enough to do drugs) You free your life.-Again, you feel so good Life is a waterfall, We drink from the river, Then we turn around and put up our walls.-We get addicted then deny we have a problem Swimming through the void We hear the word, We lost ourselves, But we find it all?-See above lol Cause we are the ones that want to play, Always want to go, But you never want to stay, And we are the ones that want to chose, Always want to play, But you never want to lose.-again, see above Aerials, in the sky, When you lose small mind, You free your life.-AGAIN see above Aerials, so up high, When you free your eyes, Eternal prize.-I guess when you get addicted you free your eyes of reality, and get an eternal prize...Eternal prize could be sarcasm for you get a ruined life, or it could be through the eyes of the drug user and be the high of it all. I know this probably isnt right because Daron is usually high as a kite, but I was listening to it and though "hey..." So it's really just what it means for me I guess. |

| The Refreshments – Mekong Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| anakoluthon is right. It is Tempe. I used to live there for several years, and I found out many people native there, or who lived there their whole lives pronounce it "Temp-ay". This is a great song about celebrating life with friends and strangers. | |
