Iron & Wine – The Trapeze Swinger Lyrics 19 years ago
I hope this song is playing when I die, and at my funeral.

I love that interpretation, but I've always seen it as a little girl he knew when he was young. They may have lived across the street from eachother, but for whatever reason they always played together. Somehow they came apart and now he's looking back on it as a man. He has a much broader and realistic view of the world. He is wondering where she is and what it would be like to meet her again as an adult.

It's amazing that words and the story of one person can be so profoundly moving. It almost hurts to listen to it's so beautiful. Anyone can relate to this song, and im not ashamed to admit it brought me to tears. The part about going to heaven and seeing the graffiti on the pearly gates...the messages people left behind....wow...thats so god damn sad. I also enjoyed the part about "who the hell can see forever" I'm an atheist and that really made my day to hear that.

My personal favorite part would have the be the phrase "the whole world stinks so no ones taking showers any more". The whole world is a dirty polluted place so how the hell can it hurt to keep trashing it.
