I think that the song is mainly nonsense really. The first verse is the character thinkings about work, and kind of drifting in and out of the activities of everyone else. The chorus (after alot of thought) ive decided that its the character day dreaming about Pontius Pilate, and associated the only thing that he had in common with Pilate, having a dog. The 2nd verse I think has to do with jesus getting hung, and the "Stunned by my own reflection" is the character realizing that its all a dream, and being dragged back into the real world. | The music video pretty much explains this song, which I shall explain. In the video, there is a tower with 4 layers, on the top layer is Les and the band, and they are playing on bicycles, which are turning the gears to the giant structure under them. Under that is a black goddess dancing to the slide guitar riff, and under her is a woman in a white wedding dress who is teaching to the children below her in sign language. This song's meaning is pretty vague, Les made the lyrics to simply be words of wisdom. | |

| Im suprised noone got this up to ep ellis, this was exactly where the song title came from though, when John Booth's leg was broken after his fall to the stage, he had it fixed at a Doctor Mud, the doctor was later tried as a conspitor and was hanged, which is where the term "Your name is Mud" comes from, which leads to the song title. | |
