| Jeremy Camp – open up your eyes Lyrics
|
Jeremy on being a part of this soundtrack:
I’ve always been intrigued by C.S. Lewis and his writing – I just finished another one of his books called the Great Divorce. So when I got the call I was thought this is amazing, I was honored.
The character that stood out for me was Edmund. You want to get frustrated with Edmund, like how can you be so selfish, how can you have such a selfish desire that you forget everybody else and their discernment on certain situations. But how many times am I so driven by my own selfish desires, and my own things that I want to do that I forget the warning signals of, hey this could be a bad situation, but I don’t want to hear it because this is something that I want to do, it’s my thing. I relate to him a lot.
The song I wrote is about opening up your eyes to see the warning signals of “don’t get involved in this, this could lead to danger”. To really see beyond the blinders of the selfish things that we want we want to do, that get in the way sometimes.
I remember reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe as a kid. My mom would explain the meaning of the story, but to me it was a cool story with neat characters and I was enthralled with it. It’s geared towards kids, but I read it recently, and adults can definitely dig into this book and get so many things out of it. |

| Alanis Morissette – Crazy (Seal cover) Lyrics

Sounds like you gotta relax & not be so rigid in life to go through life cause there're just too many bad, depressing news & events, wars, famine, crime, discrimination, -ism in this world... learn to laugh at yourself, the world and get on with life.
Go crazy before you go crazy crazy, know what I mean? HAHAHA
Didn't know it was Seal's, come to think of it, it does sound like Seal's other work. Brilliant cover though. |

I supposed Coffee & Cigarettes makes a 'MAN' but singing excellent love songs makes a 'PUSSY'. Right, some logic that is. Can't even spell properly, 'MAN' that is.
Excellent love song on hope, dreams. I have the musical version, which has less singing but both are equally good.
Sorry bout what happened to you there, CherryLover, glad that you can haven't develop any adverse reaction to this song though & still able to focus on the good times u've had. ^_^ ata girl. |

| Richard Marx – Hazard Lyrics

sounds like he's a 'bastard' moved into Hazard with his single mum. And the townsfolks are narrow minded people.
He's not right could be mild mental retardation.
And his first true friend who accepted him as he is was Mary...who unfortunately was found dead, either murdered or suicide and he was to blame because he was the last one seen with her.
The river and leaving part...could be contemplation of suicide, or just walking along the river to wherever it takes him to.
Poignant song. |

| Tori Amos – Tear In Your Hand Lyrics
|
Thing with Tori is, she blames herself for anything that goes wrong. Unlike other angry female songwriters that sing " I'm not like other girls" (such selfish narcissistic remark) ... and Tori conveys in such a manner that does not beg self-pity or attention.
And at the end there's an optimistic touch, which is really comforting.
This is what makes Tori stands out from the rest. |

| Faye Wong – fu zao (restless/impatience) Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
Track 2 'impatience' starts out softly with Faye declaring september as
the month of impatience. She then aggressively yodels 'la chart bo' (and
we could hear an alarm going off, dooo dooo dooo, all the way. It's the
obvious sound for impatience, and I think 'la chart bo' is just the kind
of sound someone will make when s/he is impatient, say, like waiting to
get into the bathroom and can't stop babbling until s/he get to go.) and
then slow down for some breathy melodic sounds, then it's all 'la chart
bo' again and then Faye does her signature nomadic lyrics-yodeling, much
much more liberated than one could find in 'pledge.' Faye finally
alternates between 'la chart bo's' and soothing whispers |

| Faye Wong – Eyes On Me Lyrics
|
Just to clarify things on Faye Wong/Wang Fei/ whatever else you guys come up with. Her real name is Wang Fei (in Mandarin-the national chinese language) also known as Faye Wong (in Cantonese- a dialect spoken widely in Guangdong, Southern China and also the national language of Hong Kong) . since Fei sounds like Faye, and it's the trend of Hong Kong artiste to adopt a western name, Fei becomes Faye, and put at front before the family name, as it is like in any western name. In East Asia, its our custom to put family name before the given name.
She's born in Beijing, moved to Hong Kong at age 16 and started singing career there. She has since 'retired' from the music scene and is currently living in Beijing with her husband and 2 children.
What an insult to call our great CHINESE diva a Japanese, ignorant fools.
Eyes on Me is sweet, but Faye has WAY better tracks. I'd recommend her album 'fu zao' (restless) |
