well, i just sorta came up with this while i was reading so im not sure if its entirely correct
its probably about a relationship he has had where he and his partner dont see eye to eye and disagree on so many levels and in the end he knows he loves her but she can only save the relationship which he loves therefore "be my saviour" and "i want you to agree with me" and the word downfall is used to express a relationship just collapsing and they cause the collapse so they are eachother's downfall but i cant make much of the last verse but he says hes back on his own and his feet are made of stone meaning he cant move on or make any progress

yeh, i watched 20 to 1 as well and i was satisfied with that choice. i reckon its an amazing song by an amazing artist but i was born after lennon died so a bit of a shocker i would have liked to see his views and his opinions about the current world, wouldve been interesting. like the war in iraq. and to sticklegs, thats a great idea but the world is full of pricks that wouldnt care about the song but to us few who appreciate music in all its forms (except rap) would stop and take a good look at themselves and try to make this world as john lennon had wished
