The first time it say "And the day was...", I believe he says "a blood red" afterwards. Anyways, my favorite song of theirs and I've been listening since the beginning. Idk why but this song will always hit home for me. |

| I don't understand all of you people bad mouthing Jason Mraz. If you actually knew what that guy was about you'd know that he's an amazing musician. Why's it seems whenever someone covers a songs there's a huge controversy over which was better. Mraz just so happened to be a fan of this song just like the rest of you and took a shot at it. Since the original title of the song isn't in the actual song itself it has a deeper meaning to Mr. Obsert in which Mraz couldn't relate to so he just named it "Love is Real" which is completely justified considering he sings that line a few times. People need to stop bitching so much about who did it better and take music for what it is. Just enjoy it. | |
| Streetlight Manifesto – One Foot on the Gas, One Foot in the Grave Lyrics | 18 years ago |

"We want it, they got it! They claim we'll die without it, But something tells me they are wrong." I think he's talking about the theory of gaining eternal salvation. It's something we all want, to live forever. Most religions claim you can "live" forever if you let God into your life because you will be brought to heaven and live on with God after you die on Earth. But then he goes on to say that he thinks they're wrong, obviously. "But we had one foot on the gas and one foot in the grave" I believe the analogy for "one foot on the gas" is that someone of faith thinks he/she has that "one step ahead of the game" mentality by believing in religion, thinking that now matter what they do in life they're going to be saved but in the end they're just dooming themselves and wasting their time. Angela did a really good job of interpeting this song but in the end, the meaning behind the lyrics is different for everyone who reads it. Take it as it is. |

It's quite obvious what this song is about. "First my mouth turns sour And then the madness will insue" "A makeshift remedy serum Is injected into my veins As we're counting down the minutes To when my ailment will strike again " He's talking about the Hulk. Duh. |

| Also, please dont "invent" more genres. Enough stupid genres as is it. Plus, Streetlight Manifesto IS NOT SKA! They're more like talented punk with horns. Listen to a real ska band, it's a huge difference. | |

I think some people might not see it the way I do but I think that the song isn't all about suicide. In the lines "you don't owe anything to anyone" and "because when i left her alone she made a sound, like a moan "you're known by everyone for everything you've done"", it sounds as if she has some sort of problem, maybe cancer or AIDs. It says "annie's tired of forgetting about today and always planning for tomorrow ', if she was contiplating suicide why would she always plan for the next day? I think instead she's tired of always trying to plan her day to live as long as she can and sometimes she just feels like its not worth the fight. And maybe at the end when he says "it's not your time, and even if it was I wouldn't let you go." like he doesn't believe it's time for her to die but even if it was he'd do all he can to try and save her. Just an idea, I know many people will disagree and I'm probably not explaining myself to the best of my ability either. I do think it's about suicide but I think it has some side references, too. |
