St. Vincent – Human Racing Lyrics 18 years ago
I love the last two stanzas reminds me of Wallace Stevens poem Sunday Morning http://www.cscs.umich.edu/~crshalizi/Poetry/Stevens/sunday_morning.html

My favorite poem ever check it out.

But the last line is awesome something Sunday morning doesn't have, it expresses the anger and disappointment felt by someone who loses faith in God but doesn't necessarily want to. That or it can also signify the feelings felt by the people who love those who dedicate themselves to God.

Wilco – Ashes of American Flags Lyrics 19 years ago
in addition to couldBanyone's i thought maybe saluting the ashes of american flags specifically is a sarcastic salute to what America has become, in that america no longer represents the "ideals," if you believe it ever stood for ideals, of what it used to mean, but is an ash of its former self.

Wilco – I Am Trying to Break Your Heart Lyrics 19 years ago
The touchdown as sex, so you can let your guard down is a good interpretation. Band-aid specifically could be her pretending to be hurt from a previous relationship, but its really not a big wound, just a little one that a band-aid would cover. And touchdown could be from his perspective like scoring sex, or from hers like really getting hurt cause a td is a lot of points. Either way its a dramatic event.
bible black predawn=> before creation of the world, timelessness?=>he wants to be her eternal, her first, before everything else when everything was calm?

or just a bunch of pretty words.

Elliott Smith – Between the Bars Lyrics 19 years ago
I agree with most people that this is from an alcoholics point of view, but i see th person he's talking to as an infant personification of himself. Between the bars serves as both a symbols, of taverns and the cradle that his childhood self lies in. This is why he talks of all the future things that he might do but won't. The bottle is a bottle of alchohol and a baby's bottle. The baby has his hands in the air like little kids do. The speaker is telling the kid to drink up because if he was strong enought to tell his childhood self not to drink up, he could stop now, but he cant face his addiction and so cant tell his past to stop. Of course there are some things that dont work with this interpretation, like the lines "people you've been before." I guess that could be past lives. Its just the first thing i thought before i really listen to the lyrics, and no-one had said that yet so i thought maybe someone could run with it.
