Van Halen – Dreams Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song is about never giving up. You can achieve your dreams, but you MUST work for them, and build upon your failures and hardships. Victory is not won without an accumulation of failures. "Save all the tears you've cried..." and "We belong in a world that must be strong..." "THAT's what dreams are made of." Dreams are made of strength and tears. Of having the strength to keep pushing, despite all the setbacks and failures (and "broken dreams" that we're standing on - STAND on them, don't fall on them). You must accumulate failures and hardship(broken dreams and tears), and have the strength to keep going, if you want to achieve your dreams. That and love (in the broadest sense - of each other, and of life itself) is made of dreams, both realized and achieved. Yes, this is Van Halen's best song. It's a positive, inspirational message, it rocks and pumps you up, and the vocals are clear and concise. The latter is why I prefer Hagar to Roth. There's no vocal buffoonery necessary to keep the song going. |
Judas Priest – The Rage Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm watching "Classic Albums Judas Priest: British Steel" right now. Rob just said "Even I'm not sure what I was singing about back then... it was probably like... be free to be what you want to be." |
Type O Negative – Cinnamon Girl (Neil Young cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
NEIL YOUNG -SUCKS- AS A SINGER! I hate his version. This one rocks. |
Bill Haley – Rock Around the Clock Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Rock and Roll" has long been a euphemism for sex. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_and_roll It's highly likely that this song is about a 24hr sex marathon. Sextastic. |
Erasure – Chains Of Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I always thought this guy was a chick when I was a kid. |
Judas Priest – Love Bites Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Sounds like it was written for a vampire movie. |
Judas Priest – Metal Gods Lyrics | 17 years ago |
To hear this, I would think it was inspired by The Terminator, but it predates Terminator by four years. Either way, awesome. \m/ |
Iron Maiden – Hallowed Be Thy Name Lyrics | 18 years ago |
1. evilbadger has the right of it. "Hallowed Be Thy Name" is a reference to The Lord's Prayer (Our Father). Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed Be Thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, On Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. Amen. I think that it is mainly a prayer to absolve sin (and a reminder to forgive others), but I'm not a priest. 2. A gallows is the stage/framework from which someone is hung. 3. Bruce is a metal legend, and he is unrivaled in vocal ability. |
Glenn Frey – Smuggler's Blues Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The imagery in this song is fantastic. I don't know if you need to spell "realities" in all-caps though. What are you trying to imply, that people are singing lies about drug use in America? The song isn't even -about- drug use; it's about -smuggling-, and even then celebrities aren't always the best source for reliable information. It's more accurate to say that it is a great, gritty and edgy song about smuggling and the underworld, befitting of the 80s Miami Vice crime-drama show whose soundtrack it was released upon. As far as reality, it may or may not be an accurate reflection of what's going on today or twenty years ago, but one usually leaves "reality" far behind when one turns on the television. |
Godsmack – Livin' in Sin Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I thought this was interesting, considering that on the face of it the song seems to have Christian references, and last I heard Sully was a witch.... |
Huey Lewis and the News – Walking On A Thin Line Lyrics | 18 years ago |
To me, it sounds pretty obviously like a veteran of the 'Nam. |
Alanis Morissette – Crazy (Seal cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Alanis' version of this is so f***ing horrible. |
Ashlee Simpson – Boyfriend Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song blows choad. It's nagging and irritating... I couldn't /understand/ it for the longest time, and then when I did, I had to ask myself, "Why the HELL should I care about this crap?" Unfortunately, I can't change or turn off the radio at work. |
Peter Cetera – Voices That Care Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No less true today than fifteen years ago. There isn't a Soldier, Sailor, Marine, or Airman over there that doesn't believe in what he's doing. They don't want to come home until they GET THEIR JOB DONE. ...F--- Michael Moore. |
