| Smoking Popes – Megan Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The whole suicide reading always struck me as a bit facile. My idea is that the verses are opportunities where he has a chance to leave Megan, his ex, and his memories of her. He almost drives away/climbs the stairs, so as to live the rest of his life, but he sits there and gets hit/stays behind (the original lyric was landing and the gate, is he talking about an airport?) because he can't move on. In the final verse, he does, because he waited as long as he could. Amazing song; if you guys haven't heard the acoustic version you should seek it out, it's very old and almost Mountain Goats-ish. |

| Weezer – Don't Let Go Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Hey, it's the only good song on the Green album! To the people who say Weezer has changed, and people should accept it: I accept that they've changed... into a band that's not as good. |

| Smoking Popes – Adena Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Adena's also a (very uncommon) semitic name, which I'm guessing is the only significant meaning to the song. which is great, by the way, I finally saw them play it live and they did it like they do on the album, as opposed to the weird chunky-guitar live version that's floating around on the net. |

| Smoking Popes – Capital Cristine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Wow, nobody? I read somewhere that Josh had a girlfriend named Cristine and they had some pretty epic shouting matches, which is where the "please stop screaming my name" part comes from. But they're still together because she knows what to do with a kiss and he really does love her, and he's stealing these moments that they don't belong together. Even though he'll pay for them in the end. The Capital Cristine part is a play on words, like plaid said, "trouble with a capital T." My second-least-favorite song on the album, in front of only Before I'm Gone, but still a good song. |

| The Replacements – Achin' To Be Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| my least favorite replacements song. it sounds like they were trying to be hot adult contemporary or something. this is latter-day goo goo dolls. | |

| Duvall – Racine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is maybe my favorite Popes/Duvall song ever. Just amazing. My favorite lyric is wrong, though, it actually goes like this: "I will see her there again, and my plastic world will melt into whatever shape she molds me / when she holds me, I am a man." Great bit of wordplay, gorgeous song. |
