This song is probably the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. I never thought it was possible to tangibly express what love feels like, but this does it. Clarence is talking about being in love (shocker). He doesn't understand how he could have lived before he met his "dear," wanting to know how she could have been hidden from his searching eyes for him. He definately focuses on age throughout most of the piece, saying that they can (and probably will, with lines like "you've got my tomorrow, baby") be together forever, but he'll still always see her as being as youthful and radiant as the day when they first met and fell in love. The first time I heard it though, I kept focusing on the shallow selfishness of it all. He kept saying in the chorus, "If there's love, I just want to have something to do with it." It made me think of those high school girls who just want to be in love, who look for it, and that's not authentic love, to me. -And I'm pretty sure it's "I just want to feel yours," not young. :) (Sorry for writing so much, this song just holds so much meaning to me.) |
