This is a wonderful song everytime i hear it it brings up emotions. This was played 2 years at my frinds funeral. I agree this is not about America! I heard it was about Marks Brother.Marks brother died of drungs. this song I think is about that . I think it is talking about meeting again later. These few lines are when Mark watched his brother battle with drugs and watched him lose and even though drugs affected him a little to the did not take him like they did his brother. "I've watched all your suffering As the battles raged higher And though they did hurt me so bad" Mark is saying that he is ready to say good bye to him and it is ok because every man has to die. "Let me bid you farewell Every man has to die But it's written in the starlight And every line on your palm" He talks about him being angry because he is doing drugs but now he thinks he is silly because he knows his brother is dieing and he should be there for him and show him he loves him. | I htink the people who say it is about her dad are wrong.... She says in the second to last verse "See more of your friends than you do of your kids," You dont have kids with your dad. I think it is about her wanting a bettter life with a man she loves and it doesnt turn out all it is cracked up to be so she tells him to keep driving and make his own life because she isnt supporting him anymore. I love this song it is def a fav. it is so beautiful | |
