Oh wow, how this would have been a totally different discussion if it weren't for the majority of fearful individuals, not quite sure of the implications involved with smoking marijuana. And no, i do NOT believe abovetheinfluence.com to be a reliable source of any kind. WAKE UP PEOPLE. So, political agenda through and all, i don't think of this song as a "stoner anthem" as someone called it. It's not about marijuana in that sense, maybe John Mayer has a spliff now and then, but it doesn't seem like this song encourages any kind of pro-pot uprising. It's more about defining yourself, and finding out what makes you happy, not caring what others might think. This is my humble interpretation, i don't think it'd be wise to delve that much deeper into these lyrics. Not every goddamn song has a subliminal message. |

I too, would believe this to be a manifestation of the current America, as many others state. The usage of windowsill is a metaphor for the helplessness Americans must feel against the rising popculture-hell, and the war in Iraq. I think that the lines "The windows are locked now, so what'll it be? A house on fire or the rising sea?" Is in context to the lines mentioned before them, which mentions MTV and World War III. The burning house being destruction (world war), and the rising sea being popcultural or biblical overflood (MTV). |

I think it's about mens dominance, suppression of women, violence against women and so on. "One hit one kiss" "Spend time with my family, like the corleones" - he wants to be the dominating in the relationship, but he wants love as well. Corleones is used a kind of cynical reference stating that he is the boss like Godfather. Also about pornography, and excusing abuse with art.. Also the the part about the corleones suggest that he is the boss of the family. It's such a f**king good song.. It makes me feel kind of angry. Don't know if i overanalyzed this song.. Perhaps it hasn't been commented because it's so obvious.. |

I agree with appers.. It's about global warming i think. Just the whole water-theme. An undeniable timebomb. Pulling the cars up from the river. All the stuff about engines are surely about global warming too, how we polute the earth. It all seems very clear to me what this song is about. |

Who cares, it's music.. sit back and enjoy. And if you don't like it, don't buy it! I know i sound naive and stupid, but this is the truth, in my opinion.. Music is great. Music is fantastic. Just hear it for christ sakes.. And rip it to pieces if you're not pleased.. And who gives a f*ck if it's a media stunt, if they're in it for the money, if they're really 4 girls from india?!
