Pearl Jam – Even Flow Lyrics 19 years ago
"This song's about a guy, his name was Ben actually, in Seatlle. We used to see him when we'd go down and practice. He didn't have a home. We'd give him money and he'd smile a toothless smile in appreciation and I still think of him every time we play this."

Pearl Jam – Man of the Hour Lyrics 19 years ago
"The song was released in the late 90s, and Big Fish came out in 2003, so I don't think it could have been written for the film."

Nope... it definitely was written for the film. First played live in 2003 at Benaroya Hall. Ed said how he had been asked by Tim Burton to write something for the film.

Beautiful song about father/child relationship. Similar to Release in many respects but whereas Release feels a bit more closed and personal.. like it's just Ed's story, Man Of The Hour feels more open. It's easier to share (for me at least)

That's an awesome version. I just came to this page because I just heard it on the official bootleg :D
That concert is superb and you're lucky to have seen such a great performance live.

Pearl Jam – Long Road Lyrics 19 years ago
Ed talked about this song at the concert in San Diego 2006.
He wrote it soon after finding out that his mentor, Clayton Liggett, had passed away. The chords at the start of the song are meant to be like bells - ringing out the loss of his mentor and friend.
A beautiful and fitting tribute to someone important to Ed and a lot of other people.
Well worth listening to that concert just for that song and talk by Ed.
