| Opeth – Harvest Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
it seems to me like its assisted suicide. he wants someone to stay with him for his final moments- "stay with me a while" and wants them to be more than just the person whos killing them- "rise above the vile". he wants them to be with him as he's dying- "never leave me be". however, since suicide is seen as a sin in society and religion, he finds himself in hell for what he did- his spirit is painted with sin and there are "embers neath his skin". i think the orchard refers to purgatory and hes looking past the gate into heaven, but then is sent to hell with other people who "couldnt wait". |

| Disturbed – The Night Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
What has come over me? What madness taken hold of my heart To run away, the only answer Pulling me away To fall upon (the night) The source of my recovery Sweet shadow taking hold of the light Another day has been devoured Calling me away, begging a question Why? For saving me from all they've taken Letting my honor fall again Giving me the strength to face them Feeling it taking over now On a path to take it all away There can be no better way of knowing In a world beyond controlling Are you going to deny the savior In front of your eyes? Stare into the night Power beyond containing Are you going to remain a slave for The rest of your life? Give into the night This self discovery Redemption taking over my mind A serenade of haunting voices Calling me away To feast upon (the night) The source of my felicity Dark maiden taking over my hand Leading me away from hibernation Strong and unafraid Never a question Why? For saving me from all they've taken Letting my honor fall again Giving me the strength to face them Feeling it taking over now On a path to take it all away There can be no better way of knowing In a world beyond controlling Are you going to deny the savior In front of your eyes? Stare into the night Power beyond containing Are you going to remain a slave for The rest of your life? Give into the night Give in to the night In a world beyond controlling Are you going to deny the savior In front of your eyes? Stare into the night Power beyond containing Are you going to remain a slave for The rest of your life? Give into the night Night (x3) Give into the Night Night (x3) Give into the Night (x2) |

| Megadeth – Countdown to Extinction Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| it's also about how james hetfield hunts. it's an attack on him. | |
| Megadeth – Symphony of Destruction Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this sounds like metallica's master of puppets and how the government pulls the strings and the people follow. in this song he says we dance like marionettes and in master of puppets he says the puppet master pulls the strings twisting your mind and smashing your dreams. does mustaine ever come up with anything original? | |

| A Perfect Circle – The Noose Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song seems to be about a murderer or something who is sentnenced to death and, while in prison, becomes a born again Christian. But his halo becomes the noose when he is executed. | |
| Metallica – (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Justin Chancellor of Tool is one of the best bass players ever, and definitly better than Cliff. | |

| I can hear that part perfectly. | |
| Tool – Jambi Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
From the July newsletter: SUBJECT: JAMBI, LAMBIC METER Q: "So, it seems that at least the first verse of the song is in Iambic meter. It is used almost exactly a typical Finnish Iambic meter: Unstressed-Stressed-U-S-U-S-U Unstressed-Stressed-U-S-U-S Unstressed-Stressed-U-S-U-S-U Unstressed-Stressed-U-S-U-S The first verse seems to follow this formula, except all of the lines end with an unstressed syllable and are equal in length. So, the funny side of the thing is that in Finnish Iamb is called "jambi". How intentional is this?" A: Finally! Very intentional. |

| Tool – Viginti Tres Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Someone was wondering earlier about 11's and 23's...well, the official Rosetta Stoned lyrics have 11 stanzas. It would seem like just a coincidence, but he put the stanzes between the wierd ass guitar noises together when theres a gap of a minute or two in between. Looks like it was done on purpose. | |
| Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| haha. It is DMT. | |
| Tool – Viginti Tres Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Ya you're right renegade ninja, it is a matter of perception, but I don't think that perception can be used to figure out Tool's meanings because then you could say that everything on the album has to do with 23 or 11. You have to look for specific, reoccuring patterns. I agree that there probably are a lot of 23's in this album, but it can't just be random occurences. | |
| Tool – Viginti Tres Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
renegade ninja...I don't think the thing in Rosetta Stoned about the 23 beats before ET reveals the secret is right. Again, that part of the song is in 5 and theres 23 guitar notes right after he says 'purpose'. But the song is 11:11 long. Also, they play in the 11 time signature for parts of the song. The thing about the chime in Right in Two seems too broad to be true. It's not specific patterns of specific beats throughout the song. It just seems too random. There's also 11 songs on the cd. |

| Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Yeah Eyeland Baby I feel the same way about that part of the song. I went to the May 4th show in Oakland. It was the best concert I've ever been to, but unfortunatley I didn't know this song yet because I had only had the new album for two days. | |
| Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| No they're not superimposed because that part of the song is counted in 5 and "Holy fucking shit" has 5 syllables. If you say it like he does in the song and count it with your hand, it will be like this: ho-ly fuck-ing shit...and the music is counted 1-2-3-4-5 the same way. "Wachen sie auf" only has 4 syllables. It doesn't match. | |
| Tool – 4 Degrees Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
From Wikipedia: Cadets are divided into four classes. However, they are not referred to as freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors, but rather as fourth-, third-, second- and first-class cadets, respectively. Fourth-class cadets (freshmen) are sometimes referred to as "doolies", however, the term "doolie" was never particularly popular with the upper classes, and the term "smack" is used more often. Other terms include "Squat", "Wad", "Tool", and "Wedge", the simplest being "tool". Members of the three lower classes are referred to as "4 degrees,” "3 degrees" or "2 degrees" based on their class. This explains the deeper meaning to the song-a person being forced to do something because they are weaker or of lower class. Also, I found it very interesting that they refer to freshman as "tools". This could be the real reason why the name Tool was chosen for the band. If you are weaker, you are a tool that someone else can use. |

| Tool – Right in Two Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Tool – The Pot Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don't think anyone can tell you because he doesn't say hair, he says head. | |
| Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I've seen that in this song there's a part where Danny is playing in 5 with his feet and 6 with his hands at the same time, but I can't figure out where it is. Does anyone know what part of the song this is in? | |

| Would've never guessed it was Bearcules. When egb said it was Arteiu it made perfect sense! Bearcules, you really had us goin. haha | |
| Tool – Lateralus Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It's not that he's talking about over analyzing the song, he's talking about how society now over thinks and over analyzes too much and that if you can stop over analyzing and free your mind, you can become something spiritualy better. | |
| Pantera – Ride My Rocket Lyrics | 19 years ago |

| Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Which parts of the song have the polyrythms and what are they counted out of? | |
| Tool – Eulogy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Destroyer One...that's not what he's saying during the indistinct part. These lines stretch from 4:30 to 5:40. You could be the one To save me from my own existance I was so, So sure that I'd sin, That I'd sin and you'd pay too I'm just glad I knew you knew me enough To allow me to always sit by you So mad since you stopped giving all your commands You weren't too mad when he called you Your mind is helpless |
|
| Tool – Stinkfist Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Yeah...he's whispering: Chupa minha pica pichu Chupa minha pica pinto This feels, theis feels Right The first part is something in Portugeuse. |
|
| Tool – Vicarious Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Haha yeah. Then there's someone who comes up with a really good idea about the meaning to the song, but nobody notices because they're too busy arguing. | |
| Iron Maiden – The Trooper Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I saw Iron Maiden do this song at last years Ozzfest. It was awesome. They sound really good in concert. | |
| Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is a cleverly written double meaning of LSD and an alien encounter. LSD was originally created to be a 'truth serum' given to a patient during a psychiatrist meeting. However, it didn't work. In Lost Keys, the doctor gives the patient LSD to help him remember all of what happened, but it doesn't work, so blame Hofmann for creating a 'truth serum' that doesn't work. The patient remembers what happened before his abduction, but not all of the encounter. The LSD didn't help him remember it either. So, in the song, like FierceDiety2 said, the patient was the Rosetta Stone for understanding how to save the world, but then he's put on LSD, so the Rosetta Stone is now Rosetta Stoned. | |
| Marilyn Manson – Antichrist Superstar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Also, I don't underdstand why people say that other bands are 'better than Manson' or 'Manson is the best ever and anyone who doesn't think so is a fag'. The music you like is up to opinion. I don't give half a rats ass if you like or don't like Manson. Manson's not my favorite, but I don't care if it's someones else's favorite. When you try and pass on an opinion as fact, that's just like saying that people who aren't Christian are going to go to hell. They don't care. (How can you go to hell if you don't believe in it?) |
|
| Marilyn Manson – Antichrist Superstar Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| All you hardcore ass Christians who can't see anyone else's point of view gets me really pissed off. It seems like you all are afraid if someone doesn't believe what you do, which leads me to believe that you are a very insecure person. I myself am agnostic because no one can prove God does or does not exist. Nobody can prove that ANYTHING exists. | |
| Warrant – Cherry Pie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| First of all, he doesn't say "swing it". He says "swingin". Second of all, this song sucks along with all other hair metal songs. Metal bands like Metallica is where it's at. Thrash metal is real heavy metal, not this stupid crap. | |
| KoЯn – Freak on a Leash Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I hate Korn and all nu-metal crap. I agree fully with duke724...KORN SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | |
| Trapt – Headstrong Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Trapt sucks. I hate that kind of music and anyone who likes it is stupid. I don't care if you think I'm wasting your time by writing this, but I'm allowed to say what I want just like you are. I'm equally pissed off at all the idiots who say this song is good. These lyrics have no meaning and the musical talent is horrible. | |
| Disturbed – Fade to Black (Metallica cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Shaftman-Hetfield wrote this because one of the things that got stolen was a Marshall amp that was very special to him. | |
| Evanescence – Bring Me To Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Evanesecence is the worst band next to Green Day. I hate all this crappy music with simple lyrics and bad musical talent. If you want to hear something good, listen to Tool or Metallica or something, not this shit. | |
| Tool – Viginti Tres Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I don't see any paper. | |
| Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think deftxink may be on to something. The patient may not have been on LSD, but the nurses and doctors thought he was, so blame Hofmann. Maybe the patient was so disillusioned that he went to the hospital to get cheked out. Someone mentioned earlier that the real Rosetta Stone consited of three narratives or something, and that the song Rosetta Stoned consists of only two. Maybe Lost Keys is the first narritive, then Rosetta Stoned is the other two. |
|
| Tool – Vicarious Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Does anyone know what he's whispering at the 5:00 mark? | |
| Tool – Intolerance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song could also be talking about religion. Just a thought. | |
