Seriously this song is pure awesomeness. the chorus part is plain epic.
i have "Old enough to know, but too young to care" as my myspace motto and as my msn messenger comment. seriously everyday someone tells me that the phrase is pure genius and wants to know where i got it from. most of the people don't know Anberlin and so i introduce them to quality music. of course it's my pleasure ;) |

awesome song, pretty straight foward, bout two people in a releationship that has lost its "fire". they don't break up, maybe out of habit, maybe for the kids... i think this is true for many kinds of relationships...
i hate how they didn't but those "b-sides" on the actual record. no reason to put them on 3 different versions of the album... |

this song reminds of a play that ive seen a couple years ago. it was called "norway.today" and it revolved around two teenagers, a boy and a girl, who met online in order to commit suicide togehter by jumping off some cliffs in norway. but when they finally meet at the cliffs and talk about their lives they fall in love... and decide not to jump... kinda like these lyrics... good play, better song. |

this is probably the track that lead to the album title and what Stephen was refering to in the explanation (New Surrender):

i think this song is a real feel-good song. it has a catchy tune that stands out while listening to the album for the first time. it's so far one of my favs on the new album, but i guess i have to listen myself into some of the others. was the same with cities. |

I think the word "CONVERSATE" is used here purposely. Since it is not a real word it somehow describes how the family was talking, but only exchanging words without any real meaning, just phrases of everyday life... well just my thoughts... |

Dudes, why always so negative? It's nothing 'bout suicide or apocalypse or anything to do with death.
The guy is often just trying to escape his problems by watching the city from a rooftop. He does that probably quite often cuz he says he has never BEFORE missed a beat. Now standing up there he describes his feelings and what he sees. He enjoys it being up there, it's the moment that he lives for when the sun is setting, the night is born or.. the DAY is dying. He can let go of his problems and pour his heart onto the rooftops, he can sing and scream, noone can hear him, and if they could it wouldn't bother him... But then there is this one second of anger in which he wished the city would drown, probably taking all his problems with it, but then he realizes how he needs all this, all the problems, without them he wouldn't have had a chance/reason to come up to the rooftops and observe this great moment when the day is dying and the night takes away his pain before all his problems come back at sunrise... well my interpretation, i think it's not too much off |

this song has some of the most beautiful lyrics ever. It's a really sad song but it's sooo good. I read in some of the comments here that mark wrote it about a guy that is about to die and his girl, but I think the lyrics can be put onto all kinds of relationships. And I guess my most favorit way to die would be having all my loved ones around while reciting the chorous of this song. |

I think this song is about someone who is about to die and thinks about his past and what he's done wrong, and hopes he will find salvation. At the end of the song he's ready to go "home" after he has concluded his life. |

I kinda always thought that he sings in the the first part of the song "It's not that our friendship was a FRAUD". I might be wrong cuz on all the other lyrics-pages ist also front. Don't know, just makes more sense to me as "fraud". but anyways awesome song. heard it on the soundtrack of some Xbox ATV game... took me ages to find out artist and title! |
